this tiger didn't go crazy

one thing that strikes me as strange about this story was 3 guys in their early 20s being at the zoo when it was closing. When I was that age, I never once gave a thought to going to a zoo.

Were they somehow screwing around with the tiger to a point where it became angry enough to leap a 20 foot tall fence?

When will people learn that zoos are here to educate, inform, and try to get people to care about these animals? Some of them are disappearing off the planet at an alarming rate. Zoos aren't around to aggitate these animals or to make funny faces at. I love watching the penguins.

Apparently, the one kid who died was 17.

Still, I agree that too many people forget what zoos are really about. All that said, expect a lawsuit if the tiger merely escaped on its on.

Please do not taunt the dynamite monk...errr..tiger.

same here, they had to be taunting it. 17 yr old just "hanging" out at the zoo just looking at animals and somehow it just hops the fence and wants to kill that person when 100's of people walk by everyday with no problem? something is fishy.

They basically said it was impossible for the tiger to get out without help. So by not taunting the tiger, two lives could have been spared, Tiger and the kid.

Story is now that the kids were taunting the tiger, one of the kids was dangling a leg over the fence, tiger leaped, hooked the leg and then got over the fence and chased the trio for over 300 yards.

Sorry but no one deserves to die for taunting a freaking tiger. There isnt one person on here who hasnt done something stupid and wrong. I doubt you think you should have paid with your life.

/ I'm sorry, but if you're that ******* stupid, then yeah, you kinda deserved it. The genetic pool just got a little deeper.

Seriously, dangling a leg over a protective enclosure to taught a tiger known to attack. Yup, those boys were Mensa candidates all of them.

It took some serious cajones for theose policemen to be searching the zoo looking for an escaped animal that had already killed one person - armed or not.

Not questioning that they somehow helped Tatiana get out, but I'm confused as to how exactly. If he was dangling a leg over the edge of the moat, and the tiger was able to leap high enough the grab it, hook it, it seems like the guy would've been pulled down into the moat. He was strong enough to support a sudden 350 lb. weight pulling on his leg enough that the tiger could then get all the way up out of the moat? I'm just not getting how that went down.

Maybe we'll get a clearer explanation soon.

Being that it was San Fran, I wouldn't be surprised to learn that the handler saw the idiots taunting her and let her out to "teach them a lesson."

It is being treated as a crime scene by the way.

I will never understand why it's labeled a tragedy when stupid people die while doing stupid things.

just read that article; holy crap, didn't know the other 2 people were friends with the dumbass. well ****, it makes alot of sense now. they must have really pissed off the cat. so they tease it, it attacks friend dangling leg, gets out and chases the other two teasing it. then the tiger gets shot. natural selection was interrupted by the police sounds like.

I just want to point out that I used to date a chick named Tatiana. She was probably deadlier than this tiger. Grrrrrr

Those crazy South Americans.

Anyway, back to the thread. The article also said that they found a lot of pine cones and sticks inside the moat, and that there is no way they could have landed there naturally as there were no trees near by, so somebody (probably the idiot kids) threw stuff in there.
