The Media Industry

^"Democratic Party is at an all-time low" - they brought it on themselves by going crazy for the far-left policies. I hope they continue to endorse those policies - it will ensure a period of dominance by the GOP.

Trump puts a refreshing spin on the post crash news conference. Instead of the typical political pussyfooting around wile awaiting completed investigations. He's lashing out at the Biden Administration and DEI. So is anybody else think he's suggesting we have been hiring mentally challenged air traffic controllers?
yeah. Nothing like Ready, Fire, Aim to get the country on the right track! As bad as his pressers are when he's supposed to have a script, he's even worse when he's in spontaneous react mode.

This was as bad as dem's seizing every shooting as a reason to undermine the 2nd amendment. Damn the details, damn the facts, damn the investigation....magic 8 ball says....DEI.

I'm not a DEI fan but I'm also not a fan of a ****-slinging leader who can never get out of politician mode.

And it's dumb. If it really is a DEI issue, it'll be clear once the facts are known. No reason to talk out his a$$.

Funny that people here didn’t listen, apparently. The DEI discussion centers on that being a big cause of the understaffing in ATC. Also the possibility of hiring less than competent people. What the hell is so bad about that? It’s the truth.

A professional pilot forum I’m on has most pilots being extremely leery of ATC the last few years.

NRO disagrees with you that the issue is premature:

The issue isn't premature. DEI should be completely eliminated across government and private business. It's illegal and morally wrong, and it was ripe before this crash. What's premature is trying to tie it specifically to this crash.

You don’t have to meet the criteria of a direct tie. You know a priori that merit wasn’t the highest priority. Thus, the workforce was not as good as it could have been.

Making it about DEI without at least somewhat of a causal link isn't helpful in finding the cause or in promoting the anti-DEI cause. In fact, it's counterproductive. Suppose we find out that everybody involved in this crash was a bunch of white guys who were 20-year veterans of the agency and had no preferential treatment at all but simply screwed up the night of the crash. Hard to make that about DEI, and when we try, it makes us look stupid or dishonest and reflexively anti-minority. At a time when we're starting to attract black and Hispanic voters who lean right, that isn't helpful.

And I'm not saying DEI wasn't a factor. It might have been, but I'm not going to raise the issue or get righteous about it when none of us really knows anything. That's how the Left treated Covid.
