Humane and legal immigration reform for legal Americans would be a complete halt to ALL getting into our country for now.

I see the term: "safe, orderly, humane and legal' immigration." What does that mean? I don't believe it means sneaking across the border into the US at night lead by a Coyote. South of Tucson, near the border that is remote, the Border Patrol recruits people to ride, on horseback, in the desert, not so much looking for people crossing, but for the dead bodies of those illegals who crossed by themselves (usually alone) without sufficient rations, particularly water, or a plan of somesort. The Border Patrol has found bodies of folks who died of gunshot wounds; however, most were nothing but dried up skin and bones or sometimes just the bones. Usually there is no way to tell how they died and most are listed as "Died of Exposure" or "Lack of Water". Also, out here, if someone comes on your property, particularly at night, and you don't know them or did not invite them, the land owner has the right shoot them. Got to check that last part out for validity though, sounds a little too good to be true.

? Maybe it would get to that point but the way E verify is structured now the Employer after having made an offer of employment can submit the employee's name and SSN to get it "verified". It is not now required
Not perfect
Requiring every Employer to e verify every employee would for sure cut down in illegal's fraud
Allowing an employer to verify an applicant's status would be even better
 
I just got back from Belize Sunday. Why in the heck do I have to show the federal government a passport while millions are walking across the border from Central America?
 
There is a major problem with "e verify". The Democrats don't want it, and neither do the Republicans. I was taken aside in DC and told I was beating my head against a brick wall and all I was going to get was a bloody nose. We had an ID program that could not be defrauded. I was told by both sides that our system would eliminate BILLIONS of dollars in social security payments and billions more in withholding taxes from people that would NEVER receive any benefits. The government wasn't willing to give up that money in the name of "fraud".

Secondly, talk to any DPS officer along Hwy 73. Every pickup they pull over will have multiple illegals commuting daily from east Houston to Port Arthur to work construction. 20-30 illegals with the same SS number, which is their only ID. No one has a TDL or insurance. Driver is arrested, passengers left on side of the road, vehicle towed. Trooper then has to spend 2-3 days doing government paper work.

this is BS. E-Verify does not need to be draconian to be effective. it does not need to be 100% foolproof to be effective. It does need to penalize the employers who don't do reasonable due diligence to confirm identity validity.

the other comment about politicians not wanting to give up the SSI input streams seems believable to me. SSI is a ponzi scheme as it is. If you took out some of illegals inputs then the ponzi scheme would topple even quicker.

sending the buses of migrants to "sanctuary cities" was a very good move and we need to double up on this. It forces those pol's to have to weigh in. And for them, there is no good way out. The only liberal-sanctioned response is "send me more" but that doesn't mesh with reality very well.

I asked yet another BP guy yesterday why they don’t bust employers. Same old answer. Orders from above not to. Those were the same orders under Clinton and W and Obama and Trump

Republicans want cheap easy to manipulate labor and Dems want millions more voters when they become citizens

So it is the Border Patrol who would investigate an employer who was required to use E Verify? How would the BP know an employer had hired someone without Everifying?
 
How do they know the employee is illegal? Lots of ways actually. Same with the people who employ them. If a motel cleaning staff is Guatemalan you could ask the staff who got them their phony ids. Or check the motels records to see if they were being paid under the table or social security was being handled legitimately

bust an owner of a name brand hotel chain and watch how quickly the franchisor reacts and the franchisees fall into line.
I have watched the fed constabulary work immigration and drug and porn cases up close for ten years. Those guys are amazing in terms of what they can turn up if turned loose. Which is why they have been kept on tight leashes

bust a few employers and watch the others scurry to either buy machines to do it with Americans or legals

Trump tapped the brakes. He had promised to slam on them. All talk and little action. Better than the current dementia ridden jerk but mostly just more hot air

I once asked BP agent under oath what portion of aliens they caught. About a fourth of them

I ask again HOW was Border Patrol l looking into employers who who supposed to use E verify but didn't.
Can you provide a link showing it is Border Patrol's responsibilty to monitor E Verify?

Those of us old enough to have watched the complete downfall of Marriott & Hilton understand that the problem lies more with the "franchisees" than the employees. Then get some REAL people to audit the franchisee's books to track how much of the maid's $10-12/hour goes to the maid and how much is kept by the franchisee.

Marriott & Hilton ain't the companies that Bill & Conrad created.

My understanding is that ICE is generally responsible for going after employers who hire illegal immigrants. Of course, 99 percent of the time, they don't do ****, but I'm pretty sure it is officially their job, not Border Patrol's.
