Texas-WVU Game Thread

To clarify, Cosmi is a tackle. That play is referred to as "tackle eligible". You have to inform the refs before the play that your tackle is an eligible receiver. You cannot throw to the center.
No, Cosmi was covered, so not eligible. Informing the Referees of eligible tackles is a NFL rule only. Center could have received a lateral also.

Oh heck, we’ve had much worse looking wins, much worse. I have same concern about next week but lately I cannot predict what my Horns are gonna do, never. I’m hoping for another big surprise and Sam n company come with everything they have. If they do, Horns win. Not a doubt about it. But I am also one who feels Hurts is as good or better than midget so I admit to hoping for miracles.
Hookem, for my first time, I’ll be there. :hookem:

My hope is that OU is not as good as their stats.
Their stats are padded by the mediocre level of competition they've played so far. No doubt their offense is very good, and the Texas defense will have to come up with a terrific effort to hold Zero U in check. And the Texas offense will have to score a bunch - which they should against the ou defense, which is better than last year, but still not very good.

I'm guessing we may see a basketball score next Saturday - wouldn't be surprised to see both teams score 50.

It is funny how we say frequently their defense is awful and then we struggle to run the ball. Hope we’re right this year and Rojo and whomever (still want to see some KJ) run wild.

It was a backward pass, a lateral. No special rule about who can take a rugby lateral.

Thank for the clarification about the Tackle taking the lateral. I had thought that a lateral could be to any player w/o having to notify the refs.

A win is a win is a win...

And those four interceptions were all very athletic plays. Every one. The plays by Foster and especially Jamison were off the charts. It should give the D a nice boost and more confidence going into OU.

But,

We have to remember that the WVA QB we were facing was not Burrow or Hurts. Most of those four ints should not have been possible but for poor or ill-advised throws. That fact doesn’t diminish the brilliant plays made. However, unless we can pressure Hurts, I’m not sure that such opportunities will be available to us next week.

Man that one handed interception/takeaway by Jamison was a thing of beauty, one of the best athletic interceptions I have ever seen and I am 59 and have watched football all my life. He was beaten but made up for it with a leap and one arm extension. An assist should go to the receiver for keeping the ball steady while Jamison ripped that ball out of his hands at the highest point. That was an all-american play. It seems he has a knack for making plays.
He would be my starter.

I like Jamison's second interception also. He showed quick feet and anticipation. He saw the play develop and jumped the route. I use to do that when I played football in college. Not everyone can do that. Yeah I enjoyed intrumural(?) football alot. Hey, it's still football!:trophy:

Not saying that I disagree, but I think We should Tap the breaks on Hurts a bit until he plays a quality team.

Man do I hope you’re right. I thought that before the season but Hurts seems to have blossomed under Riley. But it is true that OU has played nobody yet. That said, why is it that they always seem to steamroll teams like WVA and often OSU, and we struggle to win those games?

It's because Riley is a top notch coach.

Because for some reason, even though ou wins the conference every year and gets to the CFP last year and is a despicable bunch of thieves, teams get up to beat Texas more than ou.

Because we are their rival. In OU, they see themselves likely getting steamrolled. Psychology

We had 177 yds last year on 4.7 ypc. Not sure what more you are looking for? What happened before Sam is irrelevant. This OLine is better so I think we can run for 200 next Sat.

Hey, I refereed intramural flag football my freshman year .... because of a hand injury.

The facts that I was slow and weak had no bearing, I swear.
