Texas-WVU Game Thread

Rewatching the game I agree with what others have said about the Dline. Orlando has to give up on the three down lineman. We need a fourth to get adequate, or some, pressure. Our blitz packages simply do not have adequate disguise to cover up the need for more consistent pressure. Can’t explain how our blitzes are so often picked up but they are, that’s just fact.

I have been cursing the 3 man line for years..... Our blitz doesn't work for a couple reasons .... 1) 3 rushers leave 2 or 3 blockers free to pick up any LBs coming. 2) When you blitz from 5 or more yards back..its way too late. 3) All we do is bull rush..no real stunts, twists, etc to fight off blocks.....VANILLA !!!!!!! Just like our offense !!!!!!

When you have a deficient part of the defense, you have to compensate in other ways. We has a lot of holes in this defense. However, we have a lot of strong inside guys and a shortage of athletic pass rushers. This is why we are so good at stopping the run and terrible at getting to the QB.

Both of our DE are playing out of position. Both would be much more effective playing the 3i position. This is also true of Ojomo an Coburn. Look back at our best DEs and we don't have those on this roster. What we have is a roster full of DTs, so maybe we need to play them in position that puts them in the best position to their best.

I'd personally go 4-2-5. Move Roach to Strong side DE, Move Ta'Quon Graham to 3i, move Coburn to 3i and move McCullock to weakside DE. Start Mitchell and Ossai as the starting Linebackers. Basically stay the same at DB.

Don't have to make it the normal formation, but just a optional formation especially at the end of the game when we are trying to protect a lead.

MajesticII would have fired Coach Herman by now if he could.

Yeah cause Hurts hasn't been in any big games against talented teams ever. :confused2:
Like I said, I wasn’t disagreeing with your point buddy, I was simply making the point that he has not been tested THIS year, under a brand new offensive playbook. Not trying to upset you. No panty wads

Accurate summary. He will be a good coach whom WVU will be lucky to retain in the near future.

And he's not a DB like Holgerson. I am mad at UH for firing Major after he won 8 games, but Holgerson is a perfect fit for them.

lol

I think LHN has reason to communicate a little more sunshine.

Jalen Hurts is a tested veteran QB. If the issue is how the Oklahoma offense will perform based on this year's opponents, that makes tons of sense. Saying Hurts numbers this year are inflated based off the opponents makes sense.

That's all.

I have watched a lot of LHN. You would think they would be nothing but homers for Texas, but believe me, the Texas Gameday crew tells it like it is. They don't sugar coat how the team plays.

If the world was right, Colt would have had 2 NCs and a Heisman. But the world ain't right.
It takes winning the games.....nobody's given anything....Colt is having his chances in the NFL and is doing his best but can only do his best which isn't enough....Stuff happens...….even to quality people..... there are lesser quality people that are better athletes. Can appreciate people who give every bit of themselves but fall short..… But oftentimes the jacktard with GGAA is going to prevail just because of that ability. Reggie Bush did some crazy things on the football field that none could copy. That got him the Heisman. Vince was a freak of nature on the field....There's probably those who think Vince didn't deserve the hype he got over some, say, Colt-Mccoyish player somewhere else in College Football. I for one think it's sometimes silly for Longhorn fans to talk about OU like they're scum of the earth. Maybe they are, but when they're good at football they beat a lot of teams and have won at least 7 ap titles to our 3. I would just as soon our fans would get pissed off about that fact. Forget Mack Brown getting mudholed by OU and then winning all the rest of the games, or actually beating OU and then losing to TT later so OU slides in as first in conference. Stop whining about how pure Texas is vs OU and go out and win titles, dammit!

I remember they had a former DL guy on one time who basically said what he saw was hamburger. Very articulate and on point in his criticisms of the Strong staff coaching. He was never seen again, unfortunately.

But the present guys are unbiased and probably the team's and staff's sharpest critics. They call it like they see it and even highlight their different perceptions with each other. Galindo holds back by necessity as he is the moderator, but has made some very pungent observations he couches as questions to the others.

This notice just jogged my memory. I am pretty sure it was Tony Brackens. I hope he returns to LHN in the future.

Brackens selected to Southwest Conference Hall of Fame - University of Texas Athletics

I do enjoy his enthusiasm but I ask I wish Craig W would be as objective. I get sick of hearing him say things like he shred the tackle for four when he got dropped my first one to hit him, or better yet Sam incomplete and under pressure when he had all day but missed the throw.

I don't feel good about this upcoming game. I think Vegas has it just about right
This feels just like 2008. We have no chance. The dirt burglars offense is just this side of the greatest team of all time's offense. Anybody recall the line on that game. I'm guessing it was around 10. Let's see what happens.
