Texas WBB 2024-2025 Season

Shared from Texas WBB Facebook account. The post reads, “the only player in the country with these stats 🤘

She IS the complete package.
She definitely is. It is my belief that if every active collegiate player could enter the draft this year, she would be the number one pick over all of them. There are volume shooters and dynamic scores across the country, but she does things none of the others can do.

Game announcers have noted this, but that doesn't make it less true. She just moves differently than every other player out there. Anybody with trained eyes sees it immediately.

Taurasi did the same.

Thinking of taking my kid to the game this Sunday; haven't been in the downtown/campus area in a while. Can you still park for free along the side of Comal Street just south of Disch-Falk Field?

Meh, seems like some kind of excuse to me. More than half of the roster has played in Moody and five of those are starters. What's the problem?
I do NOT like the Moody Center at all…no Burnt Orange Room, etc. Change is not good in this case, but I guess “it is what it is”…

Ruminating on our Longhorns at the end of the non conference season (almost) and I like where we are at. Although it is hard to say we are a "sleeper" when ranked #5, it appears that most all other discussions and pundits seem to have given the season to UCLA, USC, ND, South Carolina and possibly UConn with LSU being occasionally mentioned as a late entrant to the game. Still, not a lot about Texas, even though I find the overall strength of this team to be one of Vic's strongest by far in terms of overall depth and talent. I know they continue to work to make it all gel together, but now in our sixth (?) season with Vic, this team seems to be progressing like his others have, and I feel like I recognize it from seasons past, and watch how the growth of his teams as they enter conference play and head towards crunch time brings them to a peak. These freshmen are much better than I expected out of the gate and I believe will be difference makers for us down the stretch.

So all that being said, while there is still much work to do, this is largely an overlooked team and I think that is where we want to be. Buckle up for a wild ride in the SEC, I cannot wait to see it take place in the Moody where I will have the chance to see teams I haven't seen in person and am really looking forward to it. Frankly, I look at the Big 12 right now and think the SEC is where we should be, playing big girl basketball......

Hook'em for a Happy New Year to all!!

Hook'em for a Happy New Year to all!!
Well said! This team's personality is beginning to take shape and I am looking forward to their development throughout the season. We don't have any noticeable drop off when the freshmen (or Kyla) enter the game. The game in Norman will be our biggest test since ND.

I hope you post more often.

Hook 'em!

I’ve got no complaints other than the odd pre conference schedule, but this team is still an enigma to me. We’re either good or very, very good. With each game so far, I could make a case for a different starting five. But I love all the players.

Happy Holidays to everyone.

I'm so excited to see what this team can be! I hope everyone realizes that conference play has arrived and plays LIGHTS OUT!:bevo:

I remain encouraged that we took Notre Dame (now #3) into OT on the road on a day when the team played lousy and, in particular, Rori was having an off day. The only other game that gives a clue to our abilities was the West Virginia (now #18) game. The other games have been deep bench, everyone scores miss-matchups. And as I type this, I realize that I am bored out of my mind. Where is the WBB????

My apologies in advance for repeating a theme from prior posts by others, but I wanted to reflect a moment on LHN. In the last two years, I have literally felt I was in women's basketball heaven, given that I am not sure I was forced to miss a single Horns basketball game because it wasn't available to watch on TV, whether that was on a regular network, a conference network (obviously not the Big XII!!) ESPNplus or LHN. The fact was that women's basketball became much more widely available, and I love it.

However.

I never imagined that the fans of the SEC would be so complacent as to have put up with the utter GARBAGE COVERAGE that is provided for women's basketball. For those of you who have been watching, you have, no doubt, marveled at the games where , for no particular reason, replays are run while the game is still happening. You may have seen games where our radio announcers are heard as the audio doing their radio show because there was no actual audio provided. Perhaps you enjoyed one game where it appeared that there simply was no announcing team even assigned to the game!

LHN I salute you. I must admit that I am not an Andrea Lloyd fan, as I feel she is not the Horns greatest advocate on occasion, but nonetheless, the professionalism that was displayed when she and Alex Loeb announced the last game and everything ran smoothly was how things went last year when LHN was in charge, and how the SEC is putting on such a piss-poor effort for their broadcast is shameful.

Enough said. Those students and and staff who worked to bring professionalism to the LHN experience last year were heads and tails above what an entire conference can produce. I have not watched the men's games to know if these appear to just be hiccups (or simple indifference) in the women's bb coverage, or if it is part of an overall mediocrity that could use an upgrade. I say I know some folks in burnt orange that could probably help them look like pros.

Happy New Year and Hook'em Horns.

In my opinion, Alex Loeb and Andrea Lloyd make a great announcing team. I have missed LHN, but I know I'm really, really going to miss LHN when baseball season rolls around.

The horrid production values happen on games which are on ESPN+. Those broadcasts are not expected to be on the air, but are really just webcasts. LHN used a full broadcast model for all of their games, and the production standards were appropriately greater than ESPN+.

I miss the quality provided by LHN, very much so.

I've had Sling for several years JUST because they carried LHN. I sincerely miss LHN for several reasons. I believe LHN failed to live up to its full potential, but it did give us EXCELLENT sports coverage, especially for so-called 2nd tier sports. I downloaded the LHN app & watch press conferences, interviews, etc. LHN was a once in a lifetime phenomena which will not be replicated. Hasn't been long, but I already miss it.

It’s a pretty big hit to their lineup
They've been playing her at the five as a backup to Sania Feagan, in addition to playing her at the four. They've still got plenty of capable post players though... Feagan, Chloe Kitts, Maryam Dauda, and Adhel Tac. They've also got another 6'5" post player who doesn't play much.

I don't particularly like Watkins mainly because she plays for LSU. However, I didn't like watching the play she got injured on. I don't remember what team they were playing, but the other team's player threw her body into the side of her knee to get the the ball, and continued to roll sideways in to it. I'm sure it was a play of frustration, but I don't like seeing a player's college career affected by those kind of plays.
