Texas-Vanderbilt Game Thread

Something needs to change on the pass protection scheme. They haven’t picked up a corner or delayed blitz in two games. Ewers is gun shy.

It's pretty dang bad. Catastrophic actually.

We're not showing any elite ability to take over the game with one of our units. Hill is incredible but this is a one-dimensional offense and we can't crush it. We're not showing anything that we can lean on to put games away and I mean by the 3rd quarter.

If the horns are who they say they are, they suck it up and punch it down the field with a physical and disciplined offense. They need to grab Big Mo and drag them to our sideline

I think it would be a mistake to now play this game not to lose instead of staying aggressive to win. :bevo:
It's a yin/yang world, and you have to do both: not lose, and win. If you only focus on one aspect, you fail both. So, in all battle strategy, it pays to analyze what the opponent might be thinking/planning, etc. The team behind has an exact strategy to catch up and win, in terms of time/points, etc. If their strategy fails, you win. So, everything you can do to cause their strategy to fail is part of winning, such as their plan can't work because there isn't enough time, so you try to run them out of that resource.

Or, to put it obnoxiously to the casual fan, football is more like war than like going to the Harlem Globetrotters.

Maybe. We're beating a top 25 team that beat Alabama. It's not embarrassing to be close
But it is embarrassing to be outplayed physically, not to capitalize on turnovers, to allow them to capitalize on turnovers, etc. We looked tough on week 1, I just haven't been impressed since then.

Our downfield passing game looks anemic.

Maybe that's just the defense Vandy is playing, but we are checking down constantly. Quinn isn't stepping up and going downfield at all.
