Texas-Army Game Thread, Part Deux

That is two innings in a row we leave runners at third and second with less than two outs and get no runs.

dammit. it is frustrating as hell that we have to milk runs while all these other real contenders are breezing thru their regional finals and winning by double digits. i just want to see a 5-run inning pleeease.

Workman really showing some stuff. His fastballs are hitting 94 mph, and he's dealing well with the ump's miniature strike zone.

On cue, he starts the sixth off with a strikeout of Watkins.

Price lines one down the third-base line for extra bases. RISP for Army, one out, Ernesto (3-for-3 on the day) up.

Ernesto Ks for his first out of the day, Workman's fifth strikeout of the day. A passed ball allows Price to reach third, however.

Moore grounds deeply to short. Loy vacuums the ball and whips the long throw to first just in time for out No.3. Texas dodges a silver bullet in the sixth. Army still leads, 6-4.

To the bottom of the 6th ...

4 Big 12 teams out of tournament. 3 unbeatens trailing. Only Oklahoma has won today (until now anyway). OOPS, I guess Kansas had also won. Make it 3 wins for the Big 12 today. That versus 7 losses. (I think).

8-, 9- and 1-hole hitters up for Texas in the bottom of the sixth.

Rowe takes ball one outside. Ditto for ball two. Rowe lines the next pitch to left for a leadoff single. Great job! Hernandez up. Let's do this.

Hernandez squares and bunts down the first-base line. He gives himself up for out No.1. WAIT: umpire rules balk! Rowe gets to stay on second, the out is erased, and Hernandez has a clean slate. w00t!!!!!!!!!

Hernandez takes low for ball one, then squares to lay down a bunt directly in front of the plate. The pitcher fields, checks Rupp at first, and throws to first for an out. What a waste of a balk. Don't agree with Augie's strategy there ... why sacrifice down by two with a runner already on second?

Tucker shows bunt, then pulls the bat back to take a pitch inside. Count is 2-1. Next pitch is grounded deep to short. Moore scoops the ball and throws across his body and all the way to first in time to get Tucker. Amazing play again by the Army shortstop. Loy up, two out, Rowe on third.

Anderegg misses on three straight pitches to give Loy a 3-0 count. Next pitch misses low and away to put runners on the corners for Torres, two out.

Anderegg running out of steam. Army coach out for a visit, but the Black Knights have no one up in the pen.

Torres earns a walk to load the bases. Belt up.

Brandon blasts one to deep right, but the fielder makes a leaping catch against the wall to rob him of a bases-clearing double. Unreal.

Can't blame Belt for that, but this team is sucking dick with RISP. Army still leads, 6-4.

To the 7th ...

We keep small balling ourselves into free outs. Wasted a balk there.

Really Really Really dont understand this.

I have NEVER in my life seen so many bunts laid down and the frickin runner is hugging his base. Come on guys. What's wrong with Harmon? Grow some 'nads, boy.

Hook'em!!!
