Texas-Army Game Thread, Part Deux

First baseman McKague leads off the fourth with a fly to right that Keyes easily catches for out No.1. Koenigsfeld up.

Koenigsfeld lines a single to left. Once again, the Black Knights refuse to go 1-2-3. One on, one out, Polchinski up.

Workman guns down Polchinski for his second strikeout of the game. Two gone, a man still on, Fleming up.

Passed ball puts Koenigsfeld on second. Count is 2-2 to Fleming.

Payoff pitch freezes Koenigsfeld for out No.3. That's three Ks for Workman now, who looks sharp.

To the bottom of the 5th, with Army still leading, 6-3 ...

I know it sounds aggyish but holy crap is this blue squeezing the zone. Workman had to strike him out twice there.

Time to get some clutch hits and score some runs. Lets go horns.

Our leadoff man Tucker leads off the bottom of the 5th with a single to center. Loy up.

Showing bunt, Loy lays one down toward the pitcher. Tucker moves to second, one out, Torres up. Mike owes us for some terrible hitting yesterday. Let's see if he can bring Travis home.

Torres works the count full after falling behind, 1-2. Cummings' payoff pitch misses outside and Torres walks to first. Belt up. C'mooooooooooon, Brandon!!! This was tailor made for you!!!

Belt answers my prayers and singles to right to score Tucker. Army 6, Texas 4. Torres advances to third, putting runners on the corners for UT with one out. Clark up.

God, Belt is so ******* money.

After three or four checks to first, Army convenes on the mound once again. The Black Knights clearly were wasting time to make a change and let Anderegg warm up. Well played, sir, well played.

OK, play resumes as Anderegg toes the mound to face the red-hot Preston Clark. Texas trails Army, 6-4, and has runners on the corners with one out.

Clark checks his swing but taps it off the end of his bat. The ball dies in front of the plate. Clark is thrown out at first as Torres has to hold on third. Belt moves to second on the play. Keyes up, two down.

Keyes works the count to 3-1. He takes the hitter's pitch low for ball four. Rupp comes to the plate with the bases juiced and two outs.

Rupp strands three with a check-swing strikeout. UT's weakness, thy name is timely hitting. Choke after choke. *sigh*

To the 6th ...

Gotta question giving up an out trailing by three. We are absolutely married to small ball and I really have to ask if this isnt the time to rear back and hit this guy. No free outs.

Belt steps up again.
