Workman plunks Army's 9-hole hitter to put a runner on first with no outs and the top of the order on deck. Again, we are swallowing our own tongue today. Incredibly sloppy game for our hitters, pitchers and coaches.
Conference on the mound. Kendal Carrillo to come in for Brandon Workman.
Carrillo starts Price off with a strike. Price responds by laying a bunt back to the mound. Carrillo fields it and has nowhere to go but first. Watkins moves to second, Ernesto up with one out.
Carillo jumps ahead of Ernesto, 0-2. The next pitch is lined sharply to right. Keyes catches it and, because it didn't hang, the runner can't advance. One on, two out, Moore up.
Moore blasts a 2-1 pitch over the leftfield wall. Ouch. Army back to a three-run advantage, 9-6.
For an encore, Henshaw crushes one over the monster in dead center to up Army's margin to four runs, 10-6.
McKague chops one past the infield and into left for a single. Carrillo started promisingly enough but is now tossing BP to the Black Knights. All of Army's damage in this inning has come with two outs. Koenigsfeld up.
Koenigsfeld swings at the first offering from Stayton Thomas and flies out to center. The inning, mercifully, ends.
Army leads, 10-6, heading into the bottom of the 8th ...
Army has had clutch hitting all night and made the plays to win the game in the field. It doesnt help that we have given them two full innings of free outs and gotten no runs out of it.
Tomorrow is going to be a nailbiter.
I really think Texas coached itself out of this game.
Struggling against Army and Boston College is not a good sign for Texas, if they struggle against these teams how would they do in a Super Regional or in Omaha where there usually aren't any unranked teams.
