Some Random Thoughts on Conference Realignment

Could SMU survive without the revenue? The ACC revenue is already likely to be significantly reduced when Clemson, FSU, & maybe GT leave. If they give ND the disproportionate share they want, and ND doesn't share any of their Nothing But Catholic money, seems like a bad deal for everyone except the Sons of Klem and FSU.

The Krazy keeps getting more krazy.

SMU would need the additional revenue just to pay for the additional jet fuel. Another one that makes no sense geographically. Not to mention the time these athletes will have to spend on a plane. I'm surprised some environmentalists aren't protesting some of these crazy moves.

Greenies don't watch football.

ND really isn't doing themselves any favors in the ACC. Hating the Big will either need to end (gulp) or they will get the short stick. The sec would be nervy and probably best for them because the rust belt is player poor overall and the south is not, but the SEC has the wrong uSC, and doesn't have Navy, BC, and Mich. State.

ND probably wants to be an a la carte member of the ACC. Have their other sports be in it for a constant set of opponents and conference play for F&F (Friends and Family) sports like women's rowing and golf, pop in/out of the football side when convenient, but keeping all of their own TV money. Nice work if you can swing it, but I doubt they will.

ACC to consider west coast shools just doesnt seem to fit anything.....
ND will if anything remain indepedent or sometype member of Big 10-20

While Cardinal may bring some tools, Cal brings nothing to anyones table otherwise they would have already been a posssibility to other power conferences....when did they last produce a champ in anything?

they (Stanford, Ore St, Wash St and Cal) will likely be a part of a new west coast group that wouldbe a lower tier conference....how about hooking up with Utah State, Boise, Colorado St , Fresno et al
Oh how I hope this happens, just for the comedy effect of Cal/Stanford being paired up with some of the most hillibillyest of schools. It would be a conference version of the Prepies being paried up with the Nerds from high school.

And with regards to Stanford and research, didn't their Pres just have to resign as he was lead on a number of studies that turned out to be faked? Research is so much easier if you just make up the data. If it worked for me in chemistry lab, why not for other's?

Good. It is absurd on its face to call yourself the Atlantic Coast Conference and add members from California.

The travel costs and disruption to students would be enormous.

Is there anyone who can explain College Sports Realignment? What is going on beyond chasing the dollar? Why is the former PAC12 a leper colony when a few years ago it was vaunted and renowned?

A former friend (West Mall stuff) who went to Arkansas tried to explain to me why they left the SWC. "No respect and we will get that in the SEC." Arkansas is and will be, for the foreseeable future, an also ran.

Still don't see them or Aggy getting respect or being relevant.

Regarding football programs, every "school" that has ever left our conference in my lifetime has become or remained a loser, a failure, a has-been, a deadbeat. None have won or even sniffed a conference title.
arkansas, aggy, colorado, missouri, nebraska
When ya mess with Texas....

Those schools didn't mess with Texas. Those schools ran away from Texas squealing like little ******* all the way.

uta,

With due respect to your friend, Coach Broyles recognized that Arkansas was in financial trouble, so the move to SEC was purely financial and little or nothing to do with "respect".

This was before Johnie Tyson and John Hunt took over the program and built the new airport. People scream "WalMart", but the Waltons were Mizzou people, before the Hogs reeled the "800 building" into Fayetteville. During that time, there was a "civil war" in Washington & Benton Counties.

Arkansas is no longer the "Fayettenam" we came to know and love. I tease my Arkansas friends that it took thousands of students from Texas to civilize their school.
