Some Random Thoughts on Conference Realignment

For the Big 12+ to make sense geographically, they should ditch Cincy, UCF, and WV and just be the conference for West of the Mississippi.

Basically, the Western US conference without the very best Western teams (UT, USC, OU, …)

Yes, but geography was forgotten long ago by TV execs. They want the Big 12 to air in Florida and Ohio over Oregon and Washington. (I'm sure they'd be happy to dump WVU.)

Hard to tell if this is aggy or husker. Regardless, the WAAA WAAA WAAA was at least 200 dB. Translation of the whinefest: "Oh my gawd, why are we so ******? Must be that mean ole *******, Bevo's fault...it's all his fault!!"

If some other program wanted their own network, they should have followed Notre Dame and us and got their own network. It's a free country.

I agree with the critique that the LHN (while really good for showing our games that weren't picked up by a major network) showed an awful lot of repetitive junk. It could have been better.

Chop,

I am confident that the networks would have picked up all of our games if it wasn't for that "****-eatin' clause" guaranteeing a couple of games a year to LHN.

Marry her and in about 10 years, she will give you tree fiddy. Gal's gonna be huge.

How did I miss this? Darn I thought both schools voted to stay at Cotton Bowl during fair. Hopefully it is a mistake

ou's schedule for 2024 includes Texas at Jerryworld? this is from June 30,2023
"The Oklahoma Sooners will host the Alabama Crimson Tide, South Carolina Gamecocks, Tennessee Volunteers and host the Texas Longhorns at AT&T Stadium, the home of the Dallas Cowboys, in 2024.

How many teams are in the SEC? A closer look at the conference re-alignment and expansion rumors

this from May 31 2023
"There are “no plans to move [the] Red River Shootout from the Cotton Bowl” once Texas and Oklahoma join the SEC in 2024, according to Chip Brown of 247SPORTS.com. OU AD Joe Castiglione indicate that while the current contract to hold the game at the Dallas venue “expires in 2025, the plan is to renew the deal with some improvements to ‘fan amenities’ moving forward.”

wtf is sportskeeda.com?

That by itself should tell you whoever wrote that article is a know-nothing mouth breather with a useless degree from some schlubby school like aggy or harvard.

It's a hoot to watch the P12 implode into nothingness - it's always been the most whiny and self-aggrandizing of all the leagues, all while accomplishing nothing to speak of on the playing field, save Stanford's eternal Sears Trophy due to the 124 different sporting events they field teams for.

The Wuhan panic was the final straw - first they practically broke their arm patting themselves on the back for not getting back to playing sports, claiming it wouldn't be SAFE!!! Then when the SEC and B12 said "We're playing, see ya!", they came running back, lest they lose out on the TV money, and laundered their whiplash decision via having a few quacks suddenly declare that it was SAFE!!!, to attend football games after all.

What makes it even better is that the Failed Four that's left are a Devil's Brew of two teams that don't want anyone else (Cal and Stanford), and two teams that no one else wants (Ore St. and Wash St.). You just know the Cal/Stanford ruling class is seething at being left holding the bag with the two schools they considered the most hillbillyish of all the former P12 teams, even though those schools ruling class votes the same way as they do, with about a 96% percentage.

Couldn't happen to a more pretentious league, and the highlight of this offseason.

Does the B1G just not want Stanford and Cal?

The B1G cares A LOT about the research done at their institutions, and Stanford is one of the tops at that (and so is Cal)... Stanford is also good at sports, and Cal is good enough. The B1G has the Southern California market with USC (and UCLA). They could grab the Northern California market with Stanford and Cal. And that's a lot of people.

Are Stanford and Cal playing hard-to-get?

Completely accurate. Texas swings the big stick and could justify that. The other schools cant and wont ever justify that. No need to hate, just get better and earn it.

I think networks (and conferences) realize Stanford and Cal don't represent northern California tv sets, just like Smu doesn't represent Dallas tv sets.

ACC to consider west coast shools just doesnt seem to fit anything.....
ND will if anything remain indepedent or sometype member of Big 10-20

While Cardinal may bring some tools, Cal brings nothing to anyones table otherwise they would have already been a posssibility to other power conferences....when did they last produce a champ in anything?

they (Stanford, Ore St, Wash St and Cal) will likely be a part of a new west coast group that wouldbe a lower tier conference....how about hooking up with Utah State, Boise, Colorado St , Fresno et al

That may be where it ends up. But, I'd bring in Hawaii, Boise, Colo State, Air Force.

2022 NCAA Champs for NCAA record 16 times in MWP (Men's Water Polo). Yeah, not really big in USA, but Hungary, Serbia, California...

Ouch. That's like being married to the prom queen, having her leave you, and settling for the "chick" from My 600-lb Life.
