SEC move timeline

Bowlsby's scorched earth plan. Most do not accomplish what was intended outside of Sherman's scorched earth march to the sea, and the Russians fall back to Stalingrad. ESPN could have directly told him what was going on, but Bowlsby's hand was so weak that all he could do was cry in public.

The more interesting exchange would have been if Texas and ou had told the $EC, "we would love to join your over-hyped group, but not as long as aggy is part of the group."
Yeah, except that getting to be in the same conference with A&M was one of the selling points rather than a drawback. You may have noticed Bellmont has been practically begging A&M to schedule UT in football.

Here are the positives of the move to the SEC for UT:
1. More $$
2. More marquee match-ups
3. Renew rivalry with Arkansas
4. Renew rivalry with A&M
5. No more losses to Kansas

Downsides are:
1. Tougher competition
2. Less control of the league office
3. Farther travel
4. Having to be associated with fanbases you regularly mocked

A+ post. I'm looking forward to positives 1-5. If the SEC goes to simple West/East splits, we'll save a bundle on travel costs.

But just think of how more cultured and sophisticated those fanbases will become due to the privilege of basking in the glow of our magnificence.

1. Tougher competition: I don't know about that. Depends on how the divisions are set up. Seems we beat most SEC teams we play in bowl games.

2. Less control of the league office: We'll see about that. ;)

3. Farther travel: Depends on divisions again.

4. Having to be associated with fanbases you regularly mocked: I will continue to mock them. Will NEVER chant SEC, SEC, SEC and hope to be the most hated team in the conference. Horns down all around.

Doubtful. Belmont knows how the BMD's feel about playing aggy (nothing for Texas to gain by beating aggy).

1. Tougher competition
I will give you Alabama currently, but that will change. The $EC East is by far the weakest Power 5 football Division. Texas and ou will do fine in the $EC and, just like the SWC and the Big XII, aggy will trail both.

Farther travel
So? When you fill up half of the Rose Bowl when playing USC, playing in playing in Alabama or Florida is no big deal.

A simple Google search will show that the UT AD and HC havwe indicated on multiple occasions that UT wants to renew the series.

Seriously? ACC Atlantic, PAC12 North, and B1G West say hi.

I'm not saying UT won't be competitive, just that the competition will be more difficult.

What does a 2006 BCS bowl game have to do with regular season travel for student athletes in 2022?

Live in your fantasy world and enjoy the few aggy victories over Kentucky.

The SEC villain cupboard is pretty empty. I mean, people root against Bama. But only because they've been on a decade-long tear. There's no real existential threat posed by the Tide, however.

Texas provides that existential threat. We have the coolest city, in the most badass State in the SEC. A place of untold riches, beautiful women, weirdo artists, egomaniac politicians, liberty-obsessed masses, etc. All the elements are there for unbridled jealousy.

So let's embrace being the bad guy. We're going to steal your girls, your recruits, and victory after glorious victory. Couple that attitude with a hard-hitting team. Then watch as wins, ratings, and $$$$ follow.

,in the most badass State in the SEC RIGHT
A place of untold riches MAYBE - IF YOU OWN A HOME

Oof. You got bitter along the way.

Buy a house in Hutto and say you live in Austin.

I find it more of a flex to say I don't live in Austin. Sangre is pretty close on his assessment of modern day Austin. It used to be a really cool laid back place and now it's full of a bunch of hipster wanna be's. Heck, all the ugly people from the east coast and midwest are moving here so the beautiful women are even getting watered down.

I don’t disagree. Move to Hutto or Dripping Springs.

Not so bitter, but I definitely do not wear burnt orange glasses when it comes to the festering ******** Austin has become.

Yes, things aren't what they used to be. But I'm not talking about life from a grown man's perspective. Or wokeville, property taxes, etc. I'm talking about where a young man would like to come play football.

There's no other SEC city that comes close. And that's a huge selling point.

Perhaps to young men who have a thing for really large cities. Not everybody does.

Yeah, it's amazing how Austin has attracted all the top talent to UT while places like Baton Rouge and Tuscaloosa only get the scraps because they're podunk little towns.
