Saddest death in a movie

In Dances With Wolves when the soldiers killed the wolf Two Socks. I remember seeing that as akid and getting all worked up.

Also the girl in Terabithia, i dont know why, guess i wasn't expecting it

Might I add just about any U.S. military death in a movie. It's the absolute ultimate sacrifice. First scene that comes to mind is the porch scene in Saving Private Ryan. Also, the scene in We Were Soldiers where the other military wife had to be the one to tell one of the soldier's wives.

Agree on the SPR scene. It was like the hero had lost and not just that, he wasn't going down with dignity either.

this was the first time i have seen this scene since my daughter was born, and it is damn near unbearable. I really think if I saw that happen I would rip my eyes out/kill myself. How would you ever go on?

Even before it was tough, and I cried in the book when it mentions something like "and in three months Gage would be dead." just a gut punch.

Kirk Douglas in Spartacus. He did not actually die in the film but was on his way out at tne end, hanging on the cross when his wife stood at the foot of the cross and held up his newborn baby son for him to see..."He is free, Spartacus...free!"

I saw that flick during its original run when I was about 7 or 8 years old. That scene got me then and still gets me now.

As the husband of a firefighter, I can't watch Ladder 49. When Travolta is walking up the front steps to her house, and she knows that the only reason he'd be there is if something had happened to J.P.'s character ... i was FURIOUS at my wife for taking me to that movie in the theatre.

"My Dog Skip" For some reason the death of Skip really broke my heart.

Another vote for James Caan in Brian's Song. Also, Willie Nelson in Barbarosa...and Steve McQueen's Mustang in Bullitt. Oh...and Billy and Captain American in Easy Rider.

My emotional reaction to watching Old Yeller for the first time when I was about 10 or 11 years old is still a great source of humor for some in my family.

The crew of the Andrea Gail

Clooney and Wahlberg were sad enough but it was the big guy with the son that always got to me the most.
