Suppose Putin says "get out" and NATO refuses. Putin isn't going to allow time for NATO to build up forces. So then what? Global nuclear war?
Hell, for the past 8 years billions of weapons and training have been wasted on Ukraine. How long until if falls? 48 hours? Why would Estonia be any different? Was it really a great idea to expand NATO to include former Soviet bloc, non strategically important shitholes, so that we are obligated to fight for them?
To protect NATO members when Putin goes beyond Ukraine.

Our mistake was not bringing Ukraine into NATO quick enough. That's the only thing that would have stopped Putin.

This nation has sold its soul to China and, ironically, would have to buy a bunch more crap from China to even come close to rebuilding our own manufacturing capacity.
The West all suckle at the Russian oil teet, with US imports of Russian oil being up by something like 55% just in the past year. The EU is also all largely beholden to Russia.
The only way we see any change is for the US to have its own regime change. ALL of the world has seen Biden's incompetence on display. He has been surrendering the nation since BEFORE he assumed office in 2021. Putin knew the US was toothless and feckless when nothing was done over Crimea (also on the Biden watch). And, domestically, we have Psaki pronouncing that the US needs to just gird the loins and suck it up, because, after all, freedom costs money.

The ONLY way I potentially see a cessation is for Biden to toss all the Green New Deal nonsense and allow America to get back to being an energy superpower, capable of also augmenting that which is required by other EU nations currently dependent upon Russian oil and gas.
As to China...I suspect that as soon as US troops are actively engaged on this debacle, China takes Taiwan. Concurrently, I would expect to see a move by North Korea on South Korea.
