RIP Jake Ehlinger

Wow, I’m saddened by this news! Prayers to the whole Ehlinger family. God lift them up and carry them through this period! Amen!

This kid turned down an offer of a full ride at Penn to get a preferred walk-on spot at Texas. Followed big bro to UT. Burnt orange to the core. My kind of guy. Rest in peace, Jake.

The Ehlinger’s story is something else. They have experienced the highest of highs and the lowest of lows in life. The fact they are a UT legacy family and made such great kids really boosts the reputation of all us Texas-Exes.
The fans don’t know Jake that well but he was an Ehlinger so you know he had all the good attributes that you would want your son to have.
Prayers for them to heal.

I've known my oldest friend since kindergarten - went to grade school together, roommates at UT, in each other's weddings, etc. Still good friends after almost 50 years. His mom's maiden name is Ehlinger and she is the cousin of Sam's grandfather. Growing up I remember being invited to and attending some of their family functions and there couldn't have been a more beautiful family. I've not met Sam, Jake or anyone from that part but can certainly attest to the quality of people they come from. Sam and Jake demonstrated that on and off the field, and it was well documented across many channels. Breaks my heart that they are going through something like this again.

This was supposed to be a joyous time for the Ehlinger family - Sam was drafted in the NFL and ready for the next challenge.

Then this tragic news.

I am holding the Ehlinger family in my prayers, along with Jake’s teammates and friends.

And those of you with kids — hug them a little tighter tonight ...

This isn't meant to be negative... but I hope the many people on here mentioning prayer actually stop and take the time to pray for this family and what can become of the heartache they have and are enduring. Otherwise...what is the point of saying it?
I initially didn't use those words because I know my nature and the nature of them.
I wish to now ask all who are willing to stop and take a few minutes to pray for this family and all who are connected closely, loosely or otherwise to them.
I will do so right now myself...

Edit: Done.

Done as well...

Prayers go out to Mrs.E

My wife lost a son at age 24. He was the 4th of her 4 sons, and let me tell you, a mother never gets over the loss of a son

Never.

She'll need a ton of support. Anniversary of dates of special moments are going to be hard for her to handle

That tweet blows me away. Wow. My assessment or DMO has changed forever.
DMO didn’t jump ship like the others, so I say it’s in character for him. Personally I am now less upset at the players than Tom Herman, who failed big time.
