Well ..tragic...but what I was thinking it was all along is worse to me, and I am happy to be wrong.

Very sad, nonetheless.
Makes me realize how fortunate I am to be alive given my own past.
Times are different now, though, and the dangers even greater...as noted above.

I think I know what you were thinking. Because I was thinking the same thing. Sad, sad, sad story. RIP to Jake...and all the positive vibes in the world to the Ehlingers.
 
So sad. The drugs these days make the psychedelics we were fooling around with look harmless.

And keep your political tripe on the West Mall. This problem is far older than 9 months for those of you who aren't completely programmed what to say and think.

Pop in your own political "tripe" while criticizing another's.
Good thing we are all free thinkers here not bound to any programming.
Someone else's view is mindless programming...but one's own is, predictably, purely objective and derived from the highest and most noble of perches.
Having said this...I agree with you that the problem outstrips 9 months, and we can all agree it is our problem to share...though open borders certainly aren't helping. This shouldn't even be a political or polarizing issue. We should together find out what is true and work towards solutions.

I have been programmed by parents that told me to not look at what "political parties" say because they will get you to believe almost anything, but to THINK for yourself.....
I am that person today and to think that allowing open borders is not perpetuating more and more people to die because of this practice....you are a card-carrying member of that CULT.....

It's more open than it used to be unless your head is in the sand. Anyone can see that. And Fentanyl largely comes from China and moves up through Mexico. The sky is blue and water is wet. Is that political to say that too? Yeezus.
 
Most of the contraband (guns, drugs, knock off Gucci purses) is transported by vehicles through normal ports of entry. The idea that it is transported on the backs of people seeking asylum is mostly incorrect.
 
The same country that produced the fentanyl that killed Jake also produced a virus that has killed millions, yet here we are arguing among ourselves about this or that. Just remember the source of these issues.

I fixed it for you. And while the border is flooded by illegal aliens it's much easier for the bad stuff to slip by. This isnt hard to comprehend. Border agents are literally saying this.

A large percentage of the people coming to the border aren't coming for "asylum." Plenty of them have have admitted they are coming here for economic reasons, on camera. You don't get to cross multiple countries in order to pick the asylum country of your choice. That's not how it works, otherwise you better be prepared for hundreds of millions of people worldwide invoking that logic in the coming years.
 
RIP Jake. Prayers for comfort for Jake's family. Gratitude to them for being open about what happened.

Well, let's just keep the politics on the West Mall.
 
The largest fentanyl bust recently was at the San Diego port of call.
The one before that was at a Virginia and New Jersey.
While more seems to be found at the southern border these days, it has normaly been coming through sea ports.

If it’s been found at seaports, then it makes sense to switch to the border to escape being found.

I grew up in El Paso. Most of my family is still there. I spend a lot of time there lately especially as I was helping care for my ailing father and now mother. the border has never been more porous than it was during the Bush years, when the cartels were at their worst. Ironically many miles of wall were built during the Obama years. I like to dove hunt in Santa Theresa NM where many miles of fence were built in that time frame. When trump started in on his dirty Mexican and wall business most of my GOP family rolled their eyes. It’s not any worse now than it was 5 years ago. It didn’t change that much in the last 5 years either. Theres a new privately built wall between sunland park nm and juarez now but no one bothered crossing through that area anyway. I giant Self-licking ice cream cone if you ask me. No one will ever make a wall that can’t be climbed to span the border.
By the way Bannon and his cohorts absconded with most of the wall funds and no one seems to know or care.
Hope none of you rubes gave that grifter your money.

There is no walking anything back. The numbers are outrageous. The Biden Administration has utterly sucked on the border. Walking it back? Ha!
