Riots in Minneapolis

Today we see people render a verdict via Twitter. Pretty dangerous in my view. Even though you call the officers POS, I hope you are never accused and tried via Twitter. We have a justice system that makes you innocent until proven guilty. Chauvin is not getting a fair trial because Twitter convicted him pre-trial. Sad state of affairs and downfall of the US.

Those two clowns will get their day in court (but more likely they’ll just settle it, as it’s a civil matter). As for Chauvin—it ain’t over yet. Defense hasn’t even put his case on yet. If his experts can sow reasonable doubt about causation of death, he may get an acquittal. The obvious wildcard is whether the jurors will play it straight.

Even if they sow reasonable doubt, he has already been convicted by the MSM. You might buy this new world, but I don’t.

If the jurors believe there is reasonable doubt as to causation of death (or any other element of the crime), and they play it straight, they’ll aquit. The lingering question is—will the jurors play it straight?

They can play it straight if they do their duty. Note, I’m not saying that playing it straight means they aquit on the manslaughter count—not yet. IMHO, for Chauvin to prevail on the manslaughter count, his experts need to come across strong and credible, sow reasonable doubt, and hold up well under cross (and they might or might not, we’ll see).

Now if they convict on the murder counts (based on what’s happened thus far in the trial), it should be overturned.

The radio conversation said felony stop. I have no idea why.
The reference to felony stop does not mean the LT had warrants...it speaks to the manner of stop being effected, allowing other officers (and dispatch) to be aware that guns are being drawn.

Another apologist for anything the authorities might do. How anyone sane can excuse this is baffling.
You are the one justifying the driver choosing not obey lawful orders to exit his vehicle (after they had ALREADY ignored in a timely manner and fashion the direction to pull over).

Expecting citizens to obey they law and follow very simple direction is NOT remotely close to endorsement of an authoritarian state.

Chauvin does not have to prove a thing. All they HAVE to do on the defense side of the courtroom is find ONE juror that they can persuade that the State failed to meet its burdens.

I swear that some on this board (and across social media) have precisely zero clue about the practice of law and believe that an episode of CSI or Law and Order is an accurate portrayal of how cases proceed...

No kidding he doesn’t have to prove a thing, the State must prove the elements of its counts beyond a reasonable doubt. But, as of where the trial is right now, I think the defense experts need to be strong for the jury to have that reasonable doubt as to the causation of death. Based on what’s out there at this point, the jurors may believe Chauvin’s actions were a substantial cause of Floyd’s death, and they may not (or they may...) have reasonable doubt as to causation of death. Solid defense expert testimony could create that reasonable doubt.

At some point the two dipsh!ts (Buford T Justice and that cop from Cool Hand Luke) realized ‘uh oh. We really fukd up here.’ So they threaten him if he filed a complaint—only making it worse for them. “You gonna ride the lightnin boy!” They’re like cops from a bad movie.
I cannot find a tape on which they threatened him about a complaint. Regardless, let him file a complaint. It is disturbing to see how dumb these drivers continue to be after all of the overblown, hyped up bullsh-it being spread by the media and by opportunistic people like Julian Castro. Isn't Castro the same shithe-d that doxed Republicans?
This is not rocket science. Do what the cops tell you, even if they happen to be wrong. They do what they do for a reason. If you want to know the reason, click the link-

They pulled him over. He refused lawful orders about 20 times. He ended up being pepper sprayed because he couldn't comply with those orders and ended up going home that night anyway.

He was armed.... just because dude is wearing a uniform means he's untouchable?

What the heck is happening. This guy wasn't a victim. Are we really going to have a national outcry over every Fing police interaction now? FFS.

2003,

His level of intelligence is displayed by going to let the Governor use him as a photo op and to make headlines. How many more times will our military hero allow himself to be pimped out?

Right. How does a military officer lack the sense to dutifully comply with police orders and set up his own camera to act like he's an innocent person being taken advantage of....

Try being a cop. Stop a convicted felon and current drug addict that just broke the law. Try to put him in your cruiser and have him fight you the entire time. Then, subdue him. However, before you do so, go ahead and determine how the hard drugs he has taken are affecting his breathing. Then, make sure he doesn't have two arteries clogged 75% and one clogged 90%.

I don't see how your response follows my post...

The **** storm that is Virginia politics, and the lack of ethics, makes Carrizo Springs one helluva lot more impressive, unless of course you are pimping your likeness out so worthless politicians can use you like a boys town *****.

Sow reasonable doubt about causation by delving into the drug use and arteriosclerosis. Show the jury that this stop/arrest was like many others in which nobody died. Note the difference between those that did not die and the convicted felon's issues.

Yep, it's starting all over again. Immediately the mayor of Minneapolis and the Governor seem to think it's the cops fault already.

As for the Virginia event— what was especially damning was that the cops threatened the Lieutenant if he were to file a complaint.

I didn't see a threat made about filing a complaint, but you're a pretty sensible guy, so I'll assume they made the threat and that I missed it. Two things can be true at once. They were wrong to threaten him (again, assuming that they did). However, it's also true that there was an astounding amount of ****-up by Nazario that led to the matter escalating and there being something to complain about. He's very, very lucky he didn't get shot.

Chuck Norris shouldn't beat you to death with his bare hands, but if you just got finished taking a piss on his face, you're sorta asking for trouble. That's not a smart thing to do. Well, disobeying about 30 lawful orders in a row isn't a very smart thing to do either.

As officer Tatum shows in the video I linked above, the cops deescalated the situation and at the end of the day everyone went home. Pulling people over is incredibly dangerous, especially at night. And the guy was armed, so the cops actually were smart. ******* just didn't want to follow orders and he wanted to make a YouTube video instead.
