Riots in Minneapolis

"Ain't much in common between the Democrats now and 150-160 years ago, yet the extreme partisans among us keep putting out and repeating that ********.

You realize that applies to all white people in America today and the slave owners of 150-160 years ago, Right?
Yeah, I love history. It was made by complex people, driven by idealism, greed, love, evangelistic fervor and other passions, steered by the cultural values of a world they accepted from their forefathers. It's kind of a shame that we revere people like the Duke of Wellington and Admiral Nelson but remain relatively ignorant about English Contemporaries William Wilberforce and John Newton that helped spread a more enlightened and kinder world view.

If I'd never read the Seven Habits of Highly Effective People maybe I would still believe that jerk behavior is an adequate justification jerk behavior. But I've experienced a paradigm shift and now feel that regardless of the stimulus, I can be true to my values when I respond.
So, does that book say to constantly try to change other's minds on a message board? If so, not very effective. And, I don't ever notice you denouncing the jerk behavior on the Dem side.

I didn't need some ******** book to become a 5th degree black belt in karate and airline captain.

You work mostly within your circle of influence, but as you grow perhaps you can have an impact on your much larger circle of concern. The ideas in Stephen Covey's book fall somewhat short of revolutionary. But like other good books, it influences how I perceive the world. Changing other's minds on the internet .. probably not within my circle of influence, but if I get a few people on here to see the world a little more clearly and broaden their viewpoints I've made some difference.

I don't generally call out Democrats here because somebody usually beats me to it. Though I do remember being livid over Hillary's email cache and expressing that here. Likewise I was very critical of Bill Clinton meeting in a private plane with the attorney general during the investigation. Certainly, I've been less than complimentary about Joe Biden on these threads. I see myself as working towards the center, which on here means influencing things towards the left.

I do also call it like I see it on freedom of expression. My position is more classical liberal than the madness of persecution for political viewpoints that is gaining momentum on the left. I like Chik-Fil-a and don't like those who attack it for Christian values that are largely for the good.

From a Facebook friend:

"I was on my community FB page, and after some BLM riots in my town (vandalized 30 businesses, assaulted people, set fires), I criticized BLM. I got literal death threats for doing that. Reported them to FB and FB did nothing about it. I just blocked the people making the threats.

Then one of them called the cops on me and made a false police report. Cop showed up at my door the next day. I had to change my last name in FB.

This is the world we live in now"

That's what they want but that won't keep the silent majority from the polls in November.

I'm really hoping that the Silent Majority will (a) show up in huge numbers in November and (b) realize the folly of the Democratic platform and vote Republican. Our country cannot afford to let a Democratic party majority run the country.

"BLM co-founder confirms what anyone who’s read their work knows: they’re proudly marxists."

Maybe we should establish a GoFundMe page to buy them one-way tickets to Russia.

Lol, Russia is more capitalistic than we are. You want communism you need to go to either Cuba, North Korea, or China. Cuba would kill them and toss them back into the gulf, North Korea would turn them into slaves, China would drown them like puppies in a sack tossed in a river.

They have no use for our trash.

They tore down Grant’s statue. Grant freed the slave he inherited and crushed the KKK as president.

It'll go on until someone stops them. The rule of law has broken down in these places because of politics, so the police aren't stopping them. Will people who care stop them? I see no evidence that they will.

Yale University was named for Elihu Yale.
He was not just a slave-owner but a slave trader.
Obviously, Yale University must now cancel itself
Otherwise, they hate black people.

He's right. In this context, that means that we need to use force to stop the destruction of our culture and monuments. Those who are charged with enforcing the laws to protect them are arbitrarily and corruptly choosing not to. It's up to us to do that job.

What about the flag itself?
The original stars and stripes represented the 13 states/colonies. Slavery was legal in each.
The haters already squat on it, fornicate on it, wipe their noses and rears with it and light it on fire.
How soon before they want to eliminate it altogether?

Dang Deez. It is getting to that point quickly isn't it.

read the third verse of the national anthem; the patriots were pizzed at the Maryland blacks who were helping the Limeys and so Key inserted a bit dumping on them. So, yes, there is some racism in the anthem.
