Rednecks shoot black kid running in neighborhood

That’s one reason. The audiotape proving that Fuhrman perjured himself and thereby undermining the credibility of the prosecution has been cited as another reason Simpson was acquitted. Lying cops is a theme.

True, but the ability to use that to cause people to make the leap that a key piece of evidence was planted (despite it being a piece of evidence that would have been very hard to plant even if Fuhrman had the worst of intentions) took some pretty sharp and creative lawyering.

The operative dynamic that benefitted OJ Simpson was the one that saved Cullen Davis. Great lawyers with great psychologists given several months working on jurors minds can humanize their client and create reasonable doubt. OJ wasn't acquitted because he was black so much as he was rich and famous. No doubt many in the black community took some pride and joy in the fact that the justice system would let one of theirs get away with murder too.

If I was charged with murder and had a choice between Johnnie Cochran and the Dream Team or Racehorse Haynes, I'd go with Racehorse. Nothing against the Dream Team. They were great, but Haynes was legendary.

Weirdly, I got to meet Cullen Davis back in 2000 at Joe T. Garcia's. I had no idea who he was until someone explained it to me the next day. Very creepy to consider that I shook a hand that had something truly horrific.

Video footage indicates Arbery might have been getting water from the house in question. Go jogging or walking, get thirsty, get a drink, get shot.

Except when it's the FBI going after republicans, right?

That’s a huge assumption. Those guys don’t look like that had facial recognition software that linked to some FBI database.
Obviously, you haven't bought a new redneck pick-up in awhile. If you had, you would know that the FBI database can be downloaded along with maps and weather. Actually, McMichael had assisted in the prosecution of the dead turd for his previous felony, so, yeah, he knew what Arbery looked like and what kind of person Arbery was. This could have caused him to go too far also. We shall see.

Again it's nice to see one of our posters willing to suggest we hold off on thinking the worst of some people ... though certainly not a black person previously convicted on firearms possession.

He’s a felon. Should I give him an “at least you tried” trophy?

That goes for a felon of any color since you brought it up. I know you can’t think about things without bringing race into it.

The former police detective whose actions in the fatal shooting of Ahmaud Arbery in Georgia were defended as a citizen's arrest was stripped of his law enforcement certification and power to arrest a year before the deadly encounter, according to personnel records acquired by The Washington Post.

Gregory McMichael's certification was suspended in February 2019 after repeated failures to complete required training, according to documents from the Brunswick Judicial Circuit District Attorney's Office, including a warning in 2014 that McMichael had neglected to finish mandatory firearms and use-of-force courses.

Felons always commit felony. If they did something bad a year ago, then shoot them today, because they are doing something bad.

You do know the the whole point of a citizens arrest is that you don't need a certification to do it. Being at the right place at the right time gives you the "power to arrest."

Yes, we should wait for the information to come out before we make judgments. Innocent until proven guilty is for the courts, but I support the principle for its wisdom too.

That sounds all high and mighty right up until you need to walk down a dark alley that “looks” to have about 10 members of the aryan nations having an annual conference.

Then your principles go right out the window and your common sense kicks in.

Convicted felons have all been fully rehabilitated into angels, and should always be given the benefit of the doubt.
Do you have a link to his felonious past? Shoplifting or a gun in a public place don't sound like felonies but what do I know?

LH..were you and others here this passionate (when you don’t know all the facts) when O.J. Simpson murdered and almost severed the heads of Nicole Simpson and Ron Goldman? Or do Black Lives Matter only when a white is accused of killing them.

Meet Caroline Small, mother of two. She was murdered by cops. Same corrupt PD. Killers were not punished.

Really sad. She was behaving very erratically... stroke, intoxicants or mental illness? Until very recently, cops have been given little training in dealing with the mentally ill -- unless of course you count the hours they spend in firearms training...

As you pointed out way back on page 1, if the citizen's arrest angle sticks here then it means that we all have an affirmative duty to answer to and obey anyone who instigates an armed confrontation with us.

Ah, so you do understand how someone would feel walking down the street and having two armed guys chase him down and confront him!

However, if the SYG laws are applied to protect these guys, then effectively they had a right to confront this guy, and he had an affirmative duty to answer to them. That's BS.

Not the citizens arrest angle - the Stand Your Ground angle.

I was talking about the general public formulating opinions.

And your comment applies to both parties. They both have to make decisions quickly. They also both need to physicall/verbally show their intentions or de-escalate the situation.

If you don't and you shoot someone dead, you can't just say and be honest and just, well that guy was a felon and so eff him.
