69, Swisher only did what most good hitters do when a pitcher throws meat. I guess Dempster is going to fit right in with this staff (in three starts since coming over from the Cubs, Dempster has allowed 19 runs (16 earned) in 17 1-3 innings)-- practically every start is going to be an adventure.
He's a major league hitter...I expect him to hit that pitch. I hate it that he 1) stands at HP and admires his hit, 2) runs the bases as slow as a 2nd-grader, and 3) decides after trotting bases he has to bow and give thanks to his God. He should have been decked on next AB.
Well, that certainly was an all-around clunker! I suppose games like that are going to happen. And a split of four games in Yankee Stadium wouldn't be a horrible result. Let's hope Harrison has his stuff together tomorrow.
Man, I hate the Yankees. After Ogando gives up back-to-back HRs in the 7th, the Rangers trail 3-0 going into the 8th and are on the way to dropping the 2nd game of the series with the Yanks. This one comes with the Rangers most consistent pitcher on the hill and the offense managing only 2 hits against Kuroda.
And have I menttioned how much I f#cking hate Swisher? Feel really bad for Harrison. Holding those ******** scoreless. R's with 4 hits in last 13 innings. Can only hope an "Angels Series" breaks out.
Harrison pitched well, Ogando was Ogando... but no bats... oh, have I mentioned I hate the f*cking yankees?
Oh and another thing... I woke up this morning still smarting from the 3-0 loss to the yanks and I had this bad feeling come over me about this series... but I won't jinx us by saying what is was
Got a rain delay. Rangers are facing a Yankees pitcher (Garcia) against whom teams are hitting over .300. If Texas doesn't hit this guy, I think they'll be in deep poo with Feldman on the hill--they've been living on borrowed time with him.
Man, where have we heard this before? Feldman has one sub-par inning and the Rangers (save Josh) can't hit their way out of a paper sack against a sub-par pitcher that most everyone else shells. Very frustrating this team is.
Outside of Josh - no bats last night... and your right this yank pitcher gets shelled by everyone else but the R's. The good guys better win this day game today
Good Lord. I guess I'm going to have to quit watching the Rangers for awhile. They are going to be the death of me. Holland takes a 4-0 lead into the bottom of the 6th and gives up 4 runs, including a two out, two-run shot to tie it. Then, Olt commits a fielding error that allows a runner to reach second, which is followed by a run-scoring single. Yanks go up 5-4 in the 6th (so pathetic), but the Rangers manage to come back and score 3 in the top of the 7th to retake the lead (7-5). Looks like Wash is going to leave Scheppers in the game. Maddening.
Whew!! Dodged a sweep. Now, let's take care of the Jays and create a larger cushion.
It pains me to say it, but this team is going nowhere in the playoffs (assuming they don't blow that chance) unless the pitching staff comes around and maintains some consistency. And all that assumes the hitters can keep the offense out of the ditch.
I was watching the game tracker at work and it disgusted me to see what was happening... I just knew Kirkman would give it away but he didn't. Good thing the bats were hot, got some good base running and the yanks made an error or two.
bullpen consistency is not great but outside of Ogando it is better than the starters lately. The rotation better get back on track and stay on track or this team will have plenty of time to think about, fumbling the winning of the division and the playoffs, when they are living in a van down by the river.
We haven't given nearly enough props to Murphy. The dude can stroke it. Very underrated. And while we're at it, can we please have Mitch play 1st and, of course, Beltre at 3rd for the duration? Those guys played some awesome D today.
40. Luckily, A's matched our 3 game losting streak. By the time the weekend is over, we could be down to mid-30's on Magic Number. There are 45 games left.
Another L on the road trip. After giving up a 2-run HR in the 1st, Darvish tossed a nice game but the Rangers offense disappeared again. I sure am tired of the Rangers making mediocre pitchers (tonight's Jays starter was 8-10 and had an ERA of almost 5.00) look like Cy Young candidates. Ridiculous. Oh well, need to take the next two.
Very frustrating for the offense. The Rangers should win 95% of the games in which they hold the opponents to three runs. It's time for the offense to rethink their approach. Consistency would be very nice - ten runs one game, two the next, won't cut it.
Wow, one shouldn't have to have white-knucklers against one of the worst teams in baseball, but AT LEAST the good guys prevailed. There was tons of drama in this one. Can't wait to hear Oswalt's reaction to being pulled after 4 2/3 with only 62 pitches, one run and two hits.
I keep waiting for the A's to burn out and they keep on winning. The Angels blowing an 8 run lead last night should be the final nail in their collective psyche, hard to see them recovering so it really comes down to a MASH unit Ranger team holding on against a surging A's team that since July 1 when they were 4 games under .500 and 12 back has played amazing ball to get to 9 games over .500 and only 5 back.
Very nice win last night. Even though the bats were still in a deep slumber, the pitching performance of Oswalt, Kirkman, et al. provided a breath of fresh air.
Need to take today's game and the series to maintain a somewhat comfortable distance from the A's. Man, the Angels (including CJ) are imploding--much like I feared the Rangers would do over the past couple of months.
