Rangers Magic Number

54. Only getting 1 on the Magic Number due to Oakland leading and will jump Angels

with win. Last 2 games were the 'hugest' games this season so far, and R's KILLED them. Obviously, pitching wasn't our forte. But, make no mistake, Angels are the most dangerous offensive team we'll place. To outscore them the last 2 games is HUGE. Plus Josh showing life again...and ALL the others who provided huge offense, like Murphy on Wed Night and Kinsler/Andrus, etc.

Time to exhale. Everyone. Lead is exactly the same as it was 4 days ago prior to playing LAA. Let's go Rangers!!

Exhale is right... huge vicktree for R's last night to split that series and keep the lead at 5 games. Pleased to see Oswalt out of the pen to pitch well and help settle things down after the game got rocky in the 5th for Dempster. Our old friend CJ Wilson gave up what 7 or 8 runs...too bad for him.

The R's need to keep their foot on the gas against some bottom-feeders as they go into KC this weekend. KC is way under .500 and 4-6 the last 10 games but they have won 3 in a row.

Go Rangers!!

On 105.3 this morning they said CJ was interviewed in LA (radio) and said before the game >>'this start means more to me than anyone will ever know. I want to shut them down, they know I want to, too. It's going to be a a big game for me and the team'.

FAIL

you know that team has to be defllated b/c of their set up men. They just scored FORTY RUNS (40) and all they could come out with, was a split....and still 5 games back.....and behind the A's in the wild card race

I still think LAA will make the playoffs, may win the division....but I bet Scoscia is wondering WTF LAA's FO is doing.....why didn'tt they make a move for Pen help in middle relief. It's costing that team the division and then some.

Wow on the CJ comment.

53 with win over KC

I hope LAAs pen continues. They've allowed CWS comeback tonight.

Good win over KC tonight. This team should've hammered the KC starter (whose ERA was over 6.50), but didn't. The next two KC starters also have ERAs above 5.00. I hope the offense doesn't go back into hibernation. Onward and upward guys.

I've been in Alaska last 4 weeks and have had to follow online or my Slingbox. Looking forward to being home tomorrow and watching games in my ManCave.

Nice win tonite, Rangers...then I flip over to the ChiSox- LAA game....The Halo's Pen loses another one, this time a walkoff HR to Rios.

Watching the A's-Jays at the moment...the A's brought up Straily, he looks REALLY good. (just pulled him after a strong 6 innings, lead 4-1)....A's may not be going away

Other than '74, this is the most interesting year to be a Ranger fan. Every day something new comes up, good baseball mixed with mishaps and slumps.....can't pull yourself away from the radio/ tv

If the A's had even an average offense (team avg is .229, putting them dead last in the majors), they'd be in the driver's seat in the West. Their pitching has been phenomenal.

Good win for the Rangers, but still concerning that they could only score 3 runs against a pitcher who has a 9.58 ERA.

51 Scooter. Ogando, Josh and Olt. But my POD (Player of the Day) is Adams. Huge K of Butler in 8th. Go Rangers!!

Give it up for Scotty Feldman he was 0-6 and is now 6-6 and a solid starter for the Rangers. A lot of games left but this little 4 game win streak could not have come at a better time.

While we're at it, let's throw a bouquet or two at Mike Olt. The rookie is showing a lot of natural hitting ability and he recognizes the strike zone - not swinging at bad pitches. I realize two games is a bit early to start working on his bust for the Hall of Fame, but so far, so good.

Total F-up by Elvis running thru the stop sign. Cost them the lead in a game that Holland has a 9.00 ERA.

Not only caused them not to go ahead but causes an injury that leads to 10th inning screw-up by Gonzales. Sucks.

It might have been a killer, but he's the #9 hitter and the vets on the team should have already won that game.

50. At least A's and Halos go down also. Trip to Beantown hopefully begins our ascent into the 40's.

Glad I missed today's game. I probably would've thrown something at the TV. I'm glad they took the series, but they should've swept KC. Holland has been throwing meat lately and a team record of 13-15 since July 1st is unacceptable by anyone's standards. Need to take 2 of 3 from the BoSox.

I wondered why Oswalt didn't come out for a 3rd inning today since he'd been perfect, the game was still tied and he's, in effect, a long reliever.

Now we know why:The Link

Wash's suicide squeeze call in the top of the 9th was one of the dumbest offensive managerial decisions I have ever witnessed.

It's a bad idea in general to call for a squeeze with a runner at third and no outs. It becomes worse when that runner represents the go-ahead run in the 9th inning. And worse with arguably the team's best clutch hitter (recently) at the plate. And worse when the top of your lineup is up. And worse when bunting is made more difficult by an opposing pitcher who is effectiveky wild while throwing mid-90s fastballs and dirty breaking balls.

Just inexcusable. The game never should have gone to the 10th.

Gonna take another come back for the magic number to decrease tonight as Darvish is putting the Rangers in yet another hole and the Rangers offense is not getting men home. Boy, I realize injuries are part of the problem but, outside of Harrison, I've got absolutely no confidence in the starting pitching right now.

The only thing good about tonight - either the A's or Angels will also lose. But...the Rangers are not looking very playoff worthy. How ironic that Feldman may currently be best pitcher.

HED - Feldman is 6-7 straight wins now, but I agree, I worry the clock hitting midnight with him... Darvish was horrible last night - he seems to be regressing, lacks control or teams are better figuring out how to hit him - maybe some of all of those.

Half of the pitching staff has been on the DL, two of the starters are out for the season, and half of the hitters are in prolonged slumps - and the Rangers are still tied for the best record in the AL and have a five-game lead. Yup, there is definitely room to improve, but all in all, they keep winning and maintaining their lead. Could be worse...

Hey HHD - your right, we should take stock and be pleased the good guys are still where they were despite all the woes. Some of this has to break back the other way for the R's... especially the hitting. If we could just get Holland settled down and Darvish back in his groove... we would be fine. Harrison and Feldman are fine for now. I am worried the bullpen may be a little stressed or tired... don't get me started on Kirkman...

49. We actually did pick up another game last night. Need A's to win tonight...though Rangers act like they're living on borrowed time.
