Random Season News

Apparently all the position rooms have had their exit interviews except OL and QB.
The numbers are now at 85 now, so if anyone else portals we fall below 85 and have more room for late portals.

So far this month, we've had 5 guys enter the portal:

"With Sarkisian unfazed by potentially going over the initial counter limit, the next concern for the numbers becomes not going over the 85-man scholarship limit when the 18 remaining high school signees and Hall get to campus in June. Those concerns have been alleviated in the days following the spring game with six members of the program — redshirt freshmen edge defenders David Abiara and Jordon Thomas, sophomore wide receiver Kelvontay Dixon, redshirt freshman wide receiver Dajon Harrison, sophomore running back Jaden Hullaby and junior defensive tackle Myron Warren — entering the NCAA transfer portal as of Friday."

TFB thinks 3-5 more to transfer out.

If these guys can't get PT on a team that has no NFL draftees then just where do they think they're going to go and get PT? Just go somewhere else and demand PT, NIL $. Wash, rinse, repeat?

I'd stay at Texas as a backup before I transferred to SHSU. At least I'd get a degree worth something. Although I suspect Sark may have told some of them to hit the road.

I think Dixon could be better off somewhere else.
Our WR room is stacked.
But Dixon has talent that could show up on a team that is lacking in WRs.

That's kind of bs that Washington left. He was practically a co-starter for all of camp. And Hall's arrival is STRONGLY tempered by how he acted at Bama. It could be an academic thing.

Perhaps he thinks he should be a number 1 reciever. He is option 3 at best in Austin. At worst he will be option 5. In any case, it would take a lot of injuries for him to be option 1. Portal constantly shows that a man would be incredibly rich if he could buy a guys skills for what they are worth and then turn around and sell the skills for what that particular guy thinks their skills are worth. Unfortunately these kids will find out life does not work this way.

Maybe Omeire is getting healthy. That would be a good thing. He could also get beat out by Hall and/or Thompson.

Key words there are “could be” beat out because he also “could win” the job. Getting open more frequently than others would move him way up. I remember many games where the prime receiver was out numbered in receptions by another receiver.

Last week Sark had end of spring practice interview with every player.
Maybe his didn't go so well.

If they don’t want to here, don’t let the door hit ‘em in the ***.

Within the next couple of years NIL will take care of getting top recruits and transfers.
I have now stopped worrying about getting top players.
It is now on coaching. I would have liked to have seen the defensive coordinator booted, especially if Patterson would have taken the job.

Well, it was his first year installing a new system.
And evidently had crap to work with as far as athletes.
Even the best of the best on our defense couldn't get drafted.
And Patterson is here.
If PK falters then GP could take over mid-season if need be.
I'm good with giving PK another season.
Fortunately we have an offense that will be scoring at will. ;)

My biggest problem with keeping PK, the defense seemed to get worse as the year went on. I was really hoping to see some improvement as the year went on. My second concern, he seemed to award lazy malcontents with playing time. I find a large amount of hypocracy in the continuity arguement as Sark fired Ash whose defense did show marked improvement through his only year on campus.

Defense changed for the worse when Jones was lost for the year.
That shows what kind of depth he had to work with.
Maybe all he had to work with were lazy malcontents for the most part.
I'll give him another season.
He's put a lot of kids in the NFL and had pretty good success as a college DC.
You don't just forget how to coach in one year.

This. What he (and all DC"s who have not coached in the Big XII) didn't/don't get is if you cannot stop the run it makes no difference how many All American lB/DB's you have, you are not going to win the Big XII.

OK, let see:

Texas in Big XII

USC in Pac

Tennessee in SEC

Should we get a calcutta going for when and where his next two stops in the BigTen and ACC

My vote is for Mike Locksley at Maryland next, then on VT in the ACC

And his parents are still arguing..
...while watching "King Richard"
...and following Kyler's dad on Twitter and Instagram.
