Random Off-Season News

Thanks moon
I had forgotten he had issues here and didn't last long at Washington. I know Sark tried to help and am sure the Wash Coach did as well.
You can't make someone want help.
I hope he sees the light.

Where is the actual police report? Wouldn't the police have investigated where they arrested Cook?
Don't you need a police report to book someone in?
Interesting that only the inmate report has been released.
Wonder if drugs or alcohol were involved

Just have to fill out arrest report at the jail and elements of the arrest and probable cause of the arrest and what he was arrested for. Formal report is for the PD or SO.

Interesting report on what Johntay did.
"Police responded to a theft call at about 7:15 a.m. at a business in the 2400 block of Meacham Boulevard, near Interstate 35W, according to a preliminary police report.

Cook was trying to make a purchase when his card was declined, an officer wrote in the report. The person who contacted police said they asked Cook to leave before he then took a key fob for the caller’s vehicle and left, the report says."

Weird. Johntay grabbed a key fob? Who from?

I might not like what NIL has done to college game
6721, I agree with you on this one. NIL and the portal have transformed the college game as we used to know it - and it will never return to the prior mode. Sooner or later some body will have to exercise authority and institute some common-sense rules to restore order. There will have to be some rules to limit the currently unlimited rules on the transfer portal, as well as a "salary cap" system to control NIL. I just wonder when it will happen (and where the authority and control will reside).

Holy Moly Yes we are Texas but darn that Manning dude is so real normal and ultratalented Damn I love the Horns who created this very normal place for Arch
Glad it is Sark cuz a few of us on here could F it up
Can't wait to see Uncle Peytons come back

THIS is going to be so glorious

Hope and pray that he gets his life in order. He still has time and a chance.
Yeah, this kid’s got some attitude—no doubt about it.

BUT

From what’s been reported, this is classic mountain-out-of-a-molehill territory. The headlines are spinning it like he committed a serious crime. Reality check: he got into a petty argument with a store clerk, got frustrated, and walked out with his key fob to prove some dumb point. Immature? Sure. Criminal mastermind? Hardly.

The cop had choices.----- Return the fob. -----Write a ticket.------------ De-escalate like a rational human being. Instead, they went full throttle and slapped cuffs on him. Seriously?

Let’s be honest: if today’s standards existed back when we were growing up, half of us would’ve been career criminals by 15.

So he tried to buy something in that smoke shop but his credit card got turned down. Was the sales clerks' key fob lying the counter? Who was the Caller? Strange story.
No doubt Cook got mouthy with the police. Stupid move
Could this be a wake up call for him?

The individual with the choices was Cook. This wasn't just some petty theft case, as evidenced by the Interference with Public Duties charge. That takes some degree of escalation of the incident on his part.

I sincerely do not intend to turn this into a West Mall discussion (my apologies in advance if that happens), but not all kids are raised with the notion that police & other authority figures are their friends. There's more, but at risk of going West Mall I will leave it there with the hope/prayer that Mr. Cook learned a valuable lesson, that there will be no repeats & that this not adversely affect his career.
