I am at the game Section 105 Row Y...AWESOME SETUP...my seats are perfect. the raised court is perfect. Great sight lines. Had a feeling it would be good. I am pleasently surprised how good the setup is.
I was in Section 104, Row 7 and obviously was as close to the action as you can get. I thought the view was good from my seats. I took a look when leaving at the top of the field box and it looked fine to me. I assume club seat and higher level would kind of suck.
I'm not putting anyone down, I'm just curious what you thought from your vantage point.
Packer and Nantz commented throughout that it didn't feel like UT had any kind of home court advantage. Watching the game on TV, it felt the same way. The whole first half when we had like a 7 point lead or so, I kept waiting for the crowd to get on their feet and cheer the horns to a bigger lead and defensive intensity, but it looked like all the burnt orange in the seats were just sitting on their hands.
The only time I saw the crowd get up (and it sounded loud on the TV) was with 50 seconds left in the 1st half when texas went up 12.
And when stanford closed to within 1 you could start hearing noise but it wasn't obvios that it was a pro-texas crowd.
Only in the last 5 minutes did it start appearing on TV that it was a pro-texas crowd.
The crowd was somewhat lethargic and late, as always. When Stanford has their little run the crowd got real loud. It was a good crowd but it is not going to be loud like a basketball arena. We definitely had home court advantage and we should do well on Sunday.
I went to several different sections and they all looked good. I didn't go up the upper decks so we will have to wait on that, but I kid you not, the court looked GREAT.
The setup was far worse than I thought it would be. We were in Row N, 30 rows up off from one of the corners. It's a ****** view, no doubt about it, and unless you were really close (like in Row 7) you were really far away. Around the second half I got used to the vantage point. I would say the crowd was quiet because of the set-up and because many of them are probably bandwagoners from Houston. But the setup is much worse than the old set-up with the court on one side. Still, glad I was there.
We were sitting in the first row of 503 for the game and the view was better than I thought it would be. We were definitely far away, but didn't have any trouble following the game. We snuck down to 309 for part of the second half and the view was really good there. Nobody sitting in the 300s should have anything to complain about.
Yeah, I was in Section 108 Row X and I'd have to agree that although the court looked good it was too far away for any sort of fan influence on the game. We were just simply too far away. They should have built bleachers from the floor directly up to the second level (balcony) seats to bring the fans in a little closer and give them a better vantage point.
Overall, though, it was just great to be there. Oh, and we'll be tailgating early on Sunday in the Green Parking Lot. Look for the big crew of people who have the motorized coolers
I was in Section 104 row JJ. Our seats kinda sucked since they were the last row in the section and we were blocked from the video boards thanks to the overhang. We could still see the video boards if we leaned forward, but still.
Didn't matter for the Memphis/MSU game, especially in the 2nd half. Got to use my buddy's, buddy's seats, which were literally right across the isle from Magic Johnson. Dude was swarmed every dead ball for autographs. Halftime was worse.
Eventually, we moved first row when some other guys left and said we could take their seats when I asked them as they walked by us. Freaking awesome!! Steve Mariucci was right behind me and John Smoltz was only 3 down from Mooch. T-Mac was also on the first row with us but more towards the middle.
If you saw two guys on the front row isle right behind the MSU bench, that was us. I put my buddy's binoculars up for a few seconds as well. That looked great on tv when I watched the game this morning.
Overall, I thought the setup was ok. Games in stadiums just don't work really. Regardless, it was fun and I am looking forward to Sunday! This time I won't leave my freaking camera in the car. Damn.
I was way up in the 600's but the view was still pretty awesome. Part of the crowd problem was the distance from the court, but I think its more of the fan issue.
We have about 75% of that arena. If we are all standing and cheering, It will make a difference. Mason said in an interview it was real loud at the end. We need that the whole time sunday!!
I was in Section 3 nine rows up (behind the Stanford band behind the goal we shot at in the first half) and it sucked ***. We were close, but the combination of being at mid-shin level to the players and being about 80 feet from the edge of the floor made the angles absolultely horrible; I wouldn't have imagined it could be that bad down low. Also, everyone in that section (save for the two guys standing up with us while we were poaching the last row) was sitting on their hands staring at the people standing and yelling. At the 12-minute timeout we took the elevator up to Section 609 and raised hell. We were a million miles aways from the court, but centered right on it; the view wasn't bad enough for me to have to watch the video boards, but it definitely wasn't great.
All in all I think this setup sucks because the vast majority of actual seating is too damn far from the court, and a lot of what's close has bad viewing angles. However, that won't prevent me from going back to 609 on Sunday to root us on to the Final Four...
