Pelini Bros. Bitchfest as reported in Omaha

My lord, I would be really embarrassed if our coaches acted like that. It's amazing that a team can get several questionable calls its way, and then scream "cheaters" when a not very questionable call doesn't. (I was in the cheap seats and could tell that there was at least a second left.)

ha, soon there'll be an episode on ESPN classics showing that they were able to trace those roots further to a small group of neanderthal losers that threw a hissy fit when evloution awarded the legacy of mankind to the homo sapiens.

on a related note, my dad has told a story time and again where a Fry-coached smu team had made a number of disparaging remarks made abt the "dummies" over there in college station, prior to a game. needless to say Stallings (who was the aggie coach at the time), who also happens to have a son w/ mental disabilities didn't take too kindly to those remarks. karma came back and Levias was injured during the game (broken leg i believe). what i can't get out of my dad was whether or not the aggies truthfully had a ringer in on defense. those ags are a tight knit bunch.

yeah, that behavior is dangerously close to garnering a really bad reaction by fans of the game in general. people have a good sense of what's right and what's wrong, what's appropriate and what is not. people watching the replay last night could clearly see the situation, and reading/hearing about bo's childish rant are likely to develop a dim view.

it was interesting to me to read about dr tom in this. i don't know why, but i expected a better response from him. i noticed that several husker fans responded with similar distaste for the pelinis and surprise at dr tom.

coming fresh off the stories about mangino, this tribe of pedophiles is walking on thin ice. i heard a podcast recently where mangino seemed initially to be cast as a good tough guy being mistreated until the other speaker blasted mangino for the things he had been reading, cautiously saying 'if' what he was reading was correct. the original guy then kind of changed his rhetoric. i have a lot of respect for the second guy. he didn't take the bait. i don't think the country at large thinks much of mangino, and now this. hmmm . . .

interesting what you say, freyguy. i dimly remember fry at smu and didn't know about the incident you talk about.

i heard stallings interviewed some years ago and the subject turned to his son. gene recalled that when the boy was born, a doctor took his aside and told him the situation. he said he had no understanding of why, but he said he wanted to hit the doctor. he realized it made no sense, but it was simply how he felt. he said in recent years he feels they were blessed with this boy. gene goes everywhere with him and they are tight like a boy and his dad. he says he sees his friends' kids grow up and move away and largely move out of the lives of the parents. i'd never thought about it that way, but i sure saw his point.

This controversial play/call should never have happened. If Colt does not have his head up his behind he should never have snapped the ball in the first place. He very nearly lost us the game on that final play. As it was, unless we beat Alabama this conference title will be disputed by all for some time to come.

Reasons abound why NU lost... I'd probably start with my offense playing awhole half on the other team's end of the field and only getting 6 points out of it!

Kicker kicking it out of bounds was as big of a boheheaded play as has been seen. Horsecollar just compounded the misery.

When he said "they don't deserve the trophy", he could just as easily have been talking about his own team.

For any 'husker complaining about the :01 being put on the board, just ask them about the 1994 Orange Bowl.
"As time ran down, Frazier hit tight end Trumaine Bell for a 29 yard gain to the FSU 28 yard line. The clock ticked down to 0:00, setting off more chaos on the FSU sideline, complete with the compulsory Gatorade bath given to FSU coach Bobby Bowden.
However, referee John Soffey ruled that Bell was down with 1 second left on the clock, and ordered the field cleared, allowing Nebraska placekicker Byron Bennett an opportunity to kick the game winning field goal."

Too bad their kicker wasn't as clutch as Lawrence.

Wow, just wow!

I know Mack would never act like that and if he did hopefully the Big 12 and Deloss would take some action.

Give the dude some gum to chew on.

Instead of crying like Nancy Kerrigan about the officials (correctly) putting a second back on the clock, the PellWeenie brothers should be ashamed about their coaching.

Nebraska' defense played great enough to allow them to win the game. However, PellWeenie's offense totalled 106 yards in 55 plays. That is 1.9 yards/play. The Cornhuskers made FIVE first downs in the entire game. That is 2.5 first downs/half. Zac Lee had a grand total of 39 passing yards on SIX completed passes. That's not including the three passes he completed to the Texas secondary, and two more that were dropped. Of the four Nebraska scoring drives, three of them started in Longhorn territory. When the Cornhuskers were on the Texas 10 yard-line, they ran three plays for -1 yards, before settling for yet another FG.

Nebraska's anger is misplaced. Instead of PellWeenie ragging on the refs, he should rip off his offensive coordinator's head, and **** down his neck cavity.

Thank god we have never had a coach let the emotions get the best of them & act like a jackass after a tough loss. We always accept our 1st or 2nd place trophies with pride.

as i recall many nebraskans were outraged by augie garrido"s behavior after a tough cws loss and demanded an apology, well...now so are we. unlike augie, bo will be a no-show

A few years ago we were behind by 4 points in a state championship game. The other team had the ball at our 7 yard line with 4th and goal. They threw a pass which was trapped by their receiver (and the replays on tv showed this) but it was called a td with 3:07 left on the clock. That put it in a two possession game. I admit that with just over 3 minutes and the momentum changing and their great defense it would have been a slim chance for us to move the ball 93 yards up the field for a td to win the game but the point is we should have had that chance slim as it was.
Our young coach had a completely different reaction when he saw the blown call. He just said "Those are the breaks."
Much more class shown by a young high school coach that the Nebraska coaches who were in the wrong.

It's turned into a crappy conference because the north division is a great drag on the conference as a whole. JMHO

Those going to the game in Lincoln next year should have t-shirts made with a photo of a red faced Pelini with the caption "Sore Loserini".

As long as it's not breaking any on-field rules, I would LOVE to have some of this secret conspiracy cooking going on in Pasadena. I'll take those breaks and that win, thank you very much. Unfortunately, I think Pelini is off his rocker.

Let's face it - Pelini is an ex-Sooner assistant with Stoops and Pete Carroll - 2 coaches that have proven to have sportsmanship issues.

Would you expect anything less?

Osborne needs to do some damage control.
