Our next OC and DC

Naivar decided that Ossai is better outside and on the line if necessary to being in the middle. He saw that Jacquess was pretty good and certainly adequate enough to stop most of the up the middle runs.

Jacquess has been a preferred walk-on for 2 years and received a scholarship earlier this year.
We dont know, for a fact, this was Naviars doing, right?

Roschon seemed pretty determined to go back to QB.
If he does it will be a super interesting battle between he and Casey moving forward. I, for one, think CT to be much better than some realize...and RJ is just a baller. I believe the staff when they say they have alot of confidence in CT, but you've gotta think RJ bought some favor this year with his unselfishness.

What are you talking about?

I knew you were joking...but I thought you were saying we should talk however we want and grammar didnt matter, and I was jokingly likening that to aggy forums....especially after the poor grammar we were making light of in a Taylor hamm 247 rant a week or so ago.
Guess I failed at aggy humor or misread your post

There is no humor among the Aggies, just self delusions.

Ah, OK - I missed the reference

Our special teams sucked. We have recruited talented tight ends yet they have not done much. I do not see the issue in losing Wartime.
Just noting the special teams excelled in the Alamo Bowl.

Tight end seems to rely heavily on who is in the game. Brewer good, Leitao is blocking only (maybe three targets all season), Wiley getting better, Liebrock also, we hope. The latter two are meant to be more athletic.

Under Wareheim, we had the worst Oline in history. He gets moved to TE coach/Special Teams and again we have very sub-par production from the TE spot along with the worst Special teams play I've ever seen.

I can't tell you how happy I am to see this dude leave. But let me try.

Well at this moment we are thick as thieves in the QB department.
SE, CT RJ, JQJ, Card and Milroe next year, though that's not a done deal. That's a full house let me tell you. We in great shape going forward. But not only do we have bodies but very good talent. At least I give Herman credit for that.

I have been out of the loop for a while. Haven't heard a peep on remaining Texas coaching changes now that the OC & DC are on board. Herman said 5 defensive coaches and 5 offensive coaches, correct? Are we waiting on possibilities from LSU and Clemson?

Defense - Giles, 2nd D line coach, LB coach, Naviar w/safeties?, Washington w/cornerbacks?

Offense - Hand OL, Drayton RB, Receivers?, TE?, QB coach (probably Yurcich)?

Special Teams?

I'd leave the OC and DC to concentrate on coordinating duties and NOT assign added position responsibilities. And I would make Special Teams a priority coaching position.

Any thoughts or inside info?

Hand and Drayton will be retained on the offensive side.

Expect a few more portal peeps before February signing day, and more after Spring drills. It is the new way of college football. Gonna be everywhere. Can't blame the players. They want to play. Why bust your *** and risk injury during practices to sit the bench ? These coaches need to start PLAYING these kids. As long as they are good and working hard, there is no reason not to give them some game snaps. Especially RBs and QBs. Its easy to play OL, WRs, defensive guys. No excuse not to give a quality kid game reps there. RB and QB is where you are limited, but still no excuse not to give your 2nd and even 3rd stringers some game reps if you think they are worth keeping. If a 2nd stringer can't run your offense, you shouldn't have recruited him.

Duvernay played 4 games last year. He is good, just not good enough to start at Texas. It will be interesting to see where he lands.

I know errbody seems to think Drayton hung the moon, but if he has any real say in the running game and how we design running plays etc....I have to say..... I am not impressed. Its not just the OL. Our running game design has sucked for years now, and has been horrible since Herman and Drayton got here. Ingram was supposed to be a stud, and Robinson is supposed to be a #1 or #2 RB recruit. If we suck with a new OC and Ingram/Robinson, then Drayton needs to be let go. ( I don't care about what tOSU backs did or didn't do ). Tired of seeing our backs take a hand-off standing still and running between the tackles over and over and over and over.

Majestic,

I bet you also failed the Mack Brown hand clapping class

:beertoast:

Unless your in the pistol formation the RB will be standing still when your in the shotgun. I agree with staying in the shotgun except goal to go and inches to go situations. I agree with you using the caveat (QB and RB are moving), at the pitch. IOW, running the option. We have done some of that. Just not enough. We need to feature RB more than QB in our run game. Not sure TH agrees with that.

This is also due to RPO plays.

i'd also like to see the RBs be able to take the handoff and hit the hole with a head of steam every time. But plenty of other teams run effectively out of shotgun, and/or run effectively out of their RPO game.

If you watch other teams who run out of shotgun the back is NOT standing still at the mesh point like Texas' backs. You don't have to be in pistol.

Naivar to Texas Tech (DBs). Same with Todd Orlando (co-DC and LBs). Matt Wells has long been pals with Orlando.
