Other Regionals

Stanford took a 2-1 lead on aTm after a triple and a single in the 5th inning. We'll face the winner.

Looks like aggy saved their ace, Nathan Dettmer, for their final game in this regional. That's an interesting strategy, but seems like it would have made more sense to at least use him yesterday, when they could have put Stanford away for good. Maybe it will pay off, we'll see.

Don't think it's going to matter..Stanford just hit a 2 run HR off of him.

Right, which kinda makes my point. Why not use your ace against a Stanford team that had to play a double-header yesterday? I think Schlossnaggy might have outsmarted himself on this one.

I see your point. I was thinking if they hit him today, they would have yesterday too, however, surely Stanford doesn't try to put their ace back out there on just one day rest yesterday.

aggy pitcher slips and falls square on his *** trying to field a swinging bunt.

I think that one play very neatly sums up the entire history of aggy athletics.

I was thinking the same exact thing before you posted that.

I wonder how conflicted aggy would be if somebody made it clear to them that if they win in Palo Alto, it means WE win the directors cup. It might flummox them so badly they choke the whole thing away, from their position in the winner's bracket.

Did one of you guys give this info to aggy?

I'm curious because I can't quite tell if we are witnessing an aggy implosion due to intentional sabotage by flummoxing, or if it is just another in a very, very long list of garden variety aggy sports implosions.

Stanford drives a run in on a fielder's choice--no chance on gunning the runner down at home. 5-1 Stanford.

It's going to be an interesting matchup.

If we can get any 2 out of 3 of the following, we'll win the 3 game series at Stanford:

1. Gordon is on
2. LBJ is on
3. Our bats are hot

If we can't get 2 out of the 3 above, we could be in trouble...

:bevo::bevo::bevo:

Of course, the ags have 2 innings to make up 4 runs. They have good bats, so it could happen.

It's always entertaining to see aggy lose at anything, but I was really hoping to catch at least a couple of games against them in Austin next weekend, dang it.

Both of these teams (Stanford and aTm) are good batting lineups with 1-2 good pitchers, then a bunch of guys they found pitching in American Legion baseball or something. If (1st Team All-American) Gordon gets the W in game 1, either of these 2 teams would have a very difficult chance of coming back.
