OTHER GAMES

Our first was a 21" Zenith that came with a large on the roof antennae to pull in KPRC channel 2 in Houston and KGUL channel 11 in Galveston. Shortly after that, the McFaddins screwed over the Hobbys & Jack Harris (owners of the Post & KPRC) to start KFDM channel 6 in Beaumont. Houston stations were on later and had LIVE rasslin on Saturday nights, as well as Horror movies on late Friday night.
Good ole Paul Boesch. I recall one of the sponsors to his rasslin shows was Bill Varley factory retreads tire store. Bull Curry came into the local barbershop when I was getting my usual high and tight one Saturday morning. He was one scary looking dude.

I was watching a big Magnavox as a junior in high school. The 75 Cowboys was a magical team. Randy White and Thomas Henderson were among a dozen rookies to make that team. Guard Val Belcher, 3rd or 4th round pick from Houston Cougars, was the only draft pick that missed. I was obsessed back then and the Dallas Morning News Sports section was massive.

Also remember a ref being hurt by a with a whiskey bottle thrown from the stands after the contoversial non-call of offensive pass interference.

Bill Varley Tire Store, Crosstimbers at Airline.
Boesch was awarded a Bronze Star, Silver Star and a Croix de Guerre for his actions in the Hurtgen Forest campaign in the fall of 1944. There's a nice writeup on him in Ambrose's Citizen Soldier.

Bijan looking good so far tonight against the Commanders.
Don't know if anyone else noticed as the game began & as players introduced themselves (usually stating their name & college/university they attended). Bijan gave his name & stated his HS (Salpointe Catholic) instead of UT. Some players do that & it's no big deal. Just something I noticed.

Falcons only had the ball for four plays in the third quarter, and now, they have to punt to start the fourth. I think this puppy is over.

It's tough to be a fan of the Dallas Cowboys. That disaster yesterday was gut-wrenching. I confess - at halftime, I did some channel surfing and came across a showing of "A Few Good Men" - and that was a lot better than watching the second half of the game.

Jerrah has three children the question is who gets control of the Cowboys?

Jerry, Jr. - probably not as he runs the very successful Blue Star real estate operation. Stephen - publically the heir apparent. However, he seems to be lacking in football smarts (or any smarts for that matter). Charlotte - she already runs the "business side" of the operation.

Cowboy fans had better be pulling for Charlotte. She would at least (probably) bring in a GM to piss Stephen off.

Back to the Falcons game, their defense was completely inept in the 2nd half. I think their mistake was to not make the decision that Daniels’ legs were not going to beat them. Take that away and then take your chances. Instead, they took away nothing and allowed Washington to control the clock and exhaust their defense. By the mid-4th, they had nothing left in the tank.

Astonishing QB scramble (over to the east, then over to the west) by Sullivan to get to the 1-foot line. Running like a wild weasel, Mizzou stumbling after him.

Damn - that is straight up criminal. That dude should be off the team immediately, scholarship revoked, and charged for deliberately injuring a defenseless player. If you did that in a street fight, you go to jail and can be sued for personal injury. Why allow it in the athletic field?

There’s zero room for that BS, cowardly kind of behavior. No class. Even worse if the coaches, school, conference, and NCAA don’t do anything about it, too.

Bush League.
