OTHER GAMES

after the weekend, aggy sez:
- Elko fat and confused - shouldn’t wear white
- team is fat, out of shape, and looked gassed
- Wiggy smokes weed and can’t talk good
-Oz the Mentalist is to blame
- backup qb’s are gooder
- new aggy DJ is drowning out the beloved band
- Gomer Pyle field is the awesomest
- ND is the toughest team they’ll play this year
- Jimbo would’ve won this game

What did I miss??
Put the blame on the band for playing a new song by breaking turdition!

Is it still called Division ll?
I don't remember a Div 1AA
I only remember Div 1 Div 2 and Div 3
And didn't you need 6 wins in Div1 to be in a bowl?
A win over a Div2 would not count as a 6th win

Edit. Looked it up. So there were Div 1 schools who were not considered top tier, as mc pointed out called 1AA. I never knew that. Only knew Div 1.
I thought there was only Div 1 2 and 3
The things you learn on HF

Horn, prepare for your mind to be totally blown:
There is (or once was) a
Division 1A
Division 1AA
Division 1AAA
Division II
Division III

You are 100%. Had no idea. And glad of it. Who needed that many?
At least now there are only FBS FCS(which I actually thought was former Div ll) current Div ll and Div lll
Right?

FSU looks like they are already toast for the year. No chemistry between the QB and the receivers--either he would miss a throw badly or he would be on target and the receiver would drop it. FSU's defense was so good last year, but now both teams they have played have run right at them and rammed it down their throats.

Not sure how they classify schools that compete in DI in basketball, baseball, etc. but don't play football (formerly/still????) DI AAA.

Not sure why I'm surprised at this. I thought everyone knew 1AA...also known as the FCS today.

It included that esteemed university just south of Austin in San Marcos named Southwest Texas State (many now call it Texas State). They are D1A now though. Sam Houston has won a couple of 1AA titles and they recently moved up as well. Georgia Southern was a 1AA powerhouse for decades. My brother attended MTSU for a year before deciding on a military career.

I actually think all of those schools are now D1A.

Mahomes v. Jackson in the first NFL game of the year tonight (NBC). . . . Ravens receive the opening kickoff and go on long drive for a TD. . . .Chief starters announced, including Worthy. Bet Mahomes is happy to have him. . . . Worthy's first touch is an end around for a TD

I flipped over pre-game to see the teams lined up on the field and a lady singing a song I did not recognize. John Harbaugh had his hand over his heart, but the song was not the National Anthem. When she was done, the teams ran off the field. Anyone familiar with the pre-game activities?

Leading 10-7, the Chiefs just stuffed the Ravens on fourth and three at midfield. I want to see more Worthy now.

Smith intercepts Mahomes at midfield. Ravens settle for chip shot FG to end half and trail by 3.

Week 2 - September 7, 2024
This is not as good a slate of games as last week--not even close. Still, there's some decent match ups to view.

Friday - Sep 6

BYU at SMU

An interesting matchup. Young may be tougher in the trenches, but don't count the high flying ponies out. A religious school vs. a formerly-religious school. Some rather interesting tailgating possibilities. We've got smoking hot blond girls that won't let young men to 1st base on one end, and hot rich girls that will take young men around the bases over and over, while on coke or some other expensive drug on the other end...

Duke at Northwestern

yawn.

Saturday - Sep 7

Arkansas at #16 Okla State

Pokes and the Mullet prevail, possibly on some 2nd half heroics.

Bowling Green at #8 Penn State

More chicken poop scheduling.

#23 Georgia Tech at Syracuse

Jackets. They may be a tad overrated, but they should beat Cuse.

Pitt at Cincy

?

#17 Kansas State at Tulane

KSU with relative ease. Solid program up there.

Army at Fla Atlantic

The Caissons go rolling down the beach.

McNeese at unranked aTm

Total chicken poop scheduling. Ags get their win. The delusional ags (a rather high % of their fan base) will think this W means they're good and the ND loss was just an anomaly.

Tenn Tech at #1 Georgia

C'mon ...

Cal at Auburn

An interesting matchup. Toss-up.

South Carolina at Kentucky

KY. Tougher in the trenches.

Iowa St at #21 Iowa

One thing's for sure--it will be a low scoring game.

Michigan State at Maryland.

Maryland with the minor upset.

E. Michigan at Washington

Dogs.

No. Illinois at #5 ND

Irish in a rout

Baylor at #11 Utah

Da Utes. Total beatdown in the trenches. Utes beat up and abuse Baylor on the line of scrimmage. Baylor's never seen "beat up and abuse" like this before.

Temple at Navy

Another game the Middies can win.

UTSA at Texas State

Commuters vs. drunks
:beertoast:
TX St staggers off the field with the W.

Middle Tenn State at Ole Miss

More piss poor SEC non-conference scheduling.

Florida A&M at #12 Miami

C'mon Canes, scheduling....

Sam Houston at UCF

If Sam wants to make a statement, here's their chance. Those 4th and 5th tier athletes from Greater Houston equal the 2nd tier athletes from most places.

South Fl at #4 Alabama

Actually, not terrible scheduling here.

Samford at Florida

As bad as the Gators are, they may struggle (early on...).

Buffalo at #9 Missouri

Nice warm up game vs a fair/mediocre opponent. But is Missou really worthy of a #9 ranking???

#19 Kansas at Illinois

Abolitionists travel to the Land of Lincoln. Good coaching at KU. Bielema has a very good D at Illinois. KU will have to pull out the stops and get creative to score much on U of I here.

UVA at Wake Forest

? WF has had good QBing in recent years...

Cal Poly at Stanford

C'mon Trees. This ain't baseball.

San Jose State at AF

Cadets prevail at high altitude.

TSU at Rice

These schools are only about a mile and a half apart. Otherwise, there's not many similarities....

#14 Tennessee vs. #24 NC State (played in Charlotte)

Probably the Vols. Good matchup. This could be the 2nd Headliner game, behind us v. Michigan.

Colorado at Nebraska

If only they both could lose...

SFA and UNT

? I'll root for SFA, but have little idea what these 2 teams have this year.

LIU at TCU

Frogs crush Lone Guyland. There will be many guys named "Tony" on the field for this one. Visitors--don't bother trying the pizza, just try the BBQ and Mexican food.

W. Mich at #2 Ohio State

Buckeyes really wanted to beat a team from Michigan this year.

Houston at #15 Oklahoma

OU turns it on in the 2nd half.

App State at #25 Clemson

Could be a trap game.

Texas Tech at Washington State

Raiders look to rebound after a close call with ACU

Boise St at #7 Oregon

Ducks toy with them for a while, then put them away hard in the 2nd half.

No. Ariz v. #20 Arizona

Zona (the whole state one)

George Fox at Redlands

WTF is this? Some sort of granola cook-off?

Miss St at Ariz St

Ariz St in the stifling heat.

Utah St at #13 USC

Trojans are looking like the Trojans once again...

I will semi-follow everything Duke does the year because of Murphy. He seems to be such a genuinely good guy and I hope he has a really good season.
