OTHER GAMES

It's up to Oregon State to knock off Washington, Oregon, or both. Then one of Washington or Oregon will knock off the other. The dogs have already beaten the Ducks this year.

Not typically a Texans fan, but, despite one bad interception today, C.J. Stroud continues to play lights out, and they won again today.

Something is wrong with the Bills lately. They are just 5-4. They are scoreless at home in the second quarter versus Denver tonight. Two turnovers already and a bunch of dropped and off target passes. . . . Denver just went for it on 4th and 2 close to the goal line and officials ruled the receiver out, but it looks on replay like one foot was in by a millimeter and the back foot drug in bounds. I think it will be good. If so, it will be 9-0 Denver midway through the second quarter. . . . Yep. TD.

Buffalo gets well quick. They drive down the field mostly on substantial runs ending with a TD pass to a wide open receiver on a blown coverage. They are going for 2 to make it a one point game. Good. 9-8. About 3 minutes left in the half.

. . . but Denver drives quickly down the field and scores on a 49 yard field goal with about 45 seconds left. Buffalo gets the ball back and throws a pick on their first play. . . . Denver moves the ball for a couple of plays and then Denver rushes its FG kicking unit on and gets another FG as time expires. Josh Allen has a rocket for an arm, but he throws too many picks.

Wow--Bills drove for go ahead score with 1:55 left (22-21), but then Denver (thanks in part to a pass interference penalty on an underthrown ball) gets in position for short FG with seconds left--they miss, but Bills had lined up on defense with 12 men on the field (nobody late in sprinting off, that's just how they lined up). Denver gets another chance and kicks the winner as time expires. Mighty Bills fall to 5-5.

It will be interesting to see how Utsa plays tonight with Traylor clearly wanting the aggy job. I hope he doesn't get it for many football reasons, but mostly because I like what he has done with the Roadrunners and I like him as a coach and don't want to see him do that to his career and coaching legacy.

I wish the big (insert #) would have added Utsa instead of cougar high. They would have major catching up to do in basketball and baseball and non revenue sports but football has more upside and San Antonio, while solidly Horn country, would ultimately support the roadrunners better than Houston does the cougars.

If that conference does not implode, it's just a matter of time before they take a serious look at Texas State.

Navy leads E Carolina 7-0 in the third. With a win, Navy is breaking even on the year. That would be a significant turn around.
