OTHER GAMES

This! I saw it last night in one of the games and the QB ran for something like 15 more yards. The rule needs to be something like "if the QB makes a move toward sliding....he is down..." The purpose of the slide rule is that he is voluntarily giving himself up for protection. The defense has been trained to immediately lay off once the QB starts his slide. Can't fake it then take advantage of what was supposed to protect you. Honestly I'm surprised I haven't seen this before now.
Like running after signaling fair catch.

Nothing, he's just not well liked among coaches
Ah. I get that Narduzzi has a somewhat abrasive personality and says what he thinks without much of a filter. Perhaps he’s a ruder Yankee version of Leach when it comes to that. That wouldn’t play well at some platforms, but others don’t care, as long as he’s winning. Maybe some B1G opening will come up over the next few years, and he’ll get some interest. He could be just the coach to lead Rutgers or Maryland to relevance in the B1G.

Bucs leading by 10 with the ball inside their own 10 with about 25 seconds left until the half. So, you just run out the clock right? Nope, Brady backs up into the end zone and throws a short pass to the left which is intercepted inside the 5 by a Falcons defender who trots into the end zone. My vote for dumbest play call of the day so far.

He should have one of his rings taken away for that.

Saw that CAR fired their OC...why they waited until the BYE Sunday instead of the day after the game, I have no idea...but it begs the question of which of the currently moving coaches Ruhle is trying to lock down as his new OC.

As to Pitt game...there would be a challenge in how to make a rule related to the motion...after all...if a QB just tries to juke and his knee or ankle buckles in the slightest bit, it begs the question of how judgment calls work. We cannot infer intent.

I would suggest we go back to the way it OUGHT to be...if the quarterback takes off on a run, designed or otherwise, they are fair game. They wear pads. Hell, even Burrow seemed to relish mixing it up with TJ Watt after the interception, admitting they don't get much of that in practice.

I'm not saying go back to the Jack Tatum launch attacks, but take the skirt off of the QB. They signed up for this. If they cannot take the hit, then perhaps they should go sign up for figure skating.

Game calls that pissed me off yesterday with be the Broncos who, after a TWENTY PLAY DRIVE, decide to go for it on 4th and 2 inside the Red Zone and basically at the ten yard line. The run up the gut gets stuffed and they leave the field with no points. So, instead of being set to go into the half down 10-6, they go in 10-3 with KC getting the ball to start the second half. It was on par with some of the nonsense we used to see out of GDGD.

Maybe Denver retained Okie States OC as a consultant?
Or has Tom moved from Chicago to Denver??

Caught some of the Vikings game last night between the food-poisoning-induced bathroom trips...

Kris Boyd was up to his usual stupidity. How one player can consistently show flashes of brilliance and then immediately screw matters up escapes me...the taunting call in the third quarter took the cake, and appears to have also pissed off the veterans on that defense.

ARMY - NAVY

The great rivalry. On paper, Army has a significantly better team than Navy this year. Navy has not been the same since QB Perry left a few years back. If you’re going to run an option offense, you’ve got to have a good option QB. Still, Navy has lost games against quality opponents this year by small margins (Cincinnati, SMU, etc). Navy will likely keep it close and within striking range for the upset. And in this game, throw out all the records and stats. This game is different.

Go Navy!

(Some of us posted some Army and Navy humor in the Esthers Follies boards for this game that might hit your funny bone.)

Nice end around by Navy!

He juked the tackler behind the line of scrimmage and took off. First and goal.

Army’s up 13-7 at halftime.

Army looks a bit better thus far, but Navy is within striking distance. Lots of effective end arounds in this game. Army’s NT is good. Navy’s faster backup QB went down. Also, there were a few times that the Midshipmen covered the Army WRs (and RBs) like they were the Midbilgemen…

Still a tight game, and anything can happen in the second half.

Double reverse by Navy!

First and goal!

Now a rugby scrum on a QB sneak. The Navy overpowers the Army and into the endzone. TD Navy!

Navy 14
Army 13

Food poisoning is a hell on earth. Hope you feel better.

Thnx :)

For the most part, I felt fine the next morning...a bit dehydrated, but no nausea or other accompanying effects from food poisoning. For me, it tends to be a 'get it out of the system and feel fine within a matter of hours.'
