Netanyahu is Israel's leader because he cobbled together a coalition of Likud with a smattering of right wing religious parties that have as their goal the expansion of Israel. Like Hamas, they do not have a plan that will ever lead to peace.
As long as we finance them and arm them they have no incentive to ever try to solve their problem and will be susceptible to hatred and warfare without end.

I admire Israel but the arrogance born of religious fanaticism is wearying.

Going back to 1967 borders is the fastest way to Israel's destruction.

Actually moving to the 1967 borders will never happen and BHO knows this. He just wants Israel to say no and then he can say "I tried". Then he will tell the US Ambassador to the UN to vote on a measure about a Palestinian state which no US Ambassador has ever done (to my knowledge).

Perhaps at one time they could have used the 1967 borders. but things change and that appears to no longer be a workable solution.
I also marveled that Nethanyahu had to remind Obama Hamas beside vowing to NEVER recognize Israel also attacked Obama for killing Osama.

What exactly did Obama accomplish regarding any kind of talks between Israel and Palistine? He pissed off both of them, not exactly a smart way to get two enemies to compromise.

where are they going to expand to? don't you mean their goal is the survival of israel? they can't go back to the 1967 borders. there are about 300,000 jews living in the area the last time jordan (palestinians) held that area, there was no religious freedom. israel is the only country that allows religious freedom in the area. i realize that the liberal talking point has been all US administrations have supported the 1967 borders but this is absolutely false.

Israel has been building settlements for decades on disputed territory, and these settlements dot the West Bank. Of course this is strategic.

Obama is merely speaking out of his ***. There is no way that he is going to achieve a two state solution. The US is firmly in bed with Israel. This isnt going to change.

For anyone who says that Israel espouses religious freedom... what are you talking about? Israel is predicated on being religiously stringent. If there are not more Jews than anyone else, then its not a Jewish state anymore. This is why they don't want a right of return. Israel CAN'T have freedom of religion or it won't exist.

No US president has gone against the will of Israel and it isnt going to happen now. As Slugga put it, it IS a dog and pony show. This is mere theater.

My own father is OLDER than Israel. There are many, many Palestinians whose parents lived in what is now Israel that cannot go back to where their parents and grand parents grew up and lived. They aren't allowed to. These people have as much moral right as any Jew who moved onto that land from Europe or elsewhere. There were 10 times as many Arabs in Palestine as Jews, and the majority were displaced.

This isnt simply about "hating Jews." Of course, there are probably quite a few more Jews on Hornfans, and Christians who support Israel so it will bring about the return of Christ, on Hornfans, than anyone else, so the responses here are pretty typical.

Just have to offer one tiny correction. You referred to the area of the settlements as "disputed territory." It's not disputed; it's Occupied Palestinian Territory, which is why those settlements are in clear violation of international law (Article 49 of the Fourth Geneva Convention).

And what makes our territories in Montana, California, Oklahoma, Texas, Colorado, Hawaii, Alaska, and other areas not disputed? What makes mexico and central america not disputed by mayan ancestors? How about the Caribbean? Does it really belong to the dutch, the french, the spanish, the brits, and the US? At least the jews fought simply to protect themselves from invaders.
