NCAA Tournament 2022

ESPN just put out a list of the Top 25 players in the women's tournament this year and Rori is the only Freshman that made it
Aneesah Morrow (DePaul) is a freshman. Sloppy by ESPN but they list her as a senior but then correctly say freshman in the first sentence. The only reason I knew at a glance she was a freshman is because she is the odds on favorite for national FOTY.

Thanks for creating the bracket. I just joined!

She definitely has impressive stats, especially as a freshman... but she's not playing/performing against P5 competition every night. Rori is more deserving of the Nat'l FOY.

Fairfield will probably be the most experienced team Texas has played this season starting 3 seniors, a RS-Senior and a grad student. They'll be undersized in the paint but will have a height advantage on the perimeter:
  • F Lou Lopez-Senechal - Senior - 6' 1"
  • F Callie Cavanaugh - RS Senior - 6' 1"
  • G Sydney Lowery - Grad - 5' 10"
  • F Andrea Hernangomez - Senior - 6' 1"
  • PG Rachel Hakes - Senior - 6' 0"

Gives our munchkin guards plenty of opportunities to get under their dribble and get steals.

Agree 100% but we both know voters don’t delve that deep.

Has anyone gotten their tickets yet for the first and second rounds? I did the pre-order last week and haven’t heard anything else.

2022 Women's NCAA Tournament odds and BPI predictions (espn.com)

This is really interesting if you're into odds of winning it all, and odds to win the first round game. In some ways, it sure looks like so many teams weren't seeded correctly (according to the oddsmakers).

Odds to win it all (seed, and bolded teams in our region):

- #1 South Carolina: +175
- #1 Stanford: +350
- #1 NC State: +650
- #2 UConn: 4-1
- #1 Louisville: 10-1
- #2 Texas: 20-1
- #2 Baylor: 25-1
- #2 Iowa: 30-1
- #3 Indiana: 40-1
- #4 Maryland: 40-1
- #6 Kentucky: 40-1
- #3 Iowa State: 60-1
- #3 LSU: 75-1
- #6 Ohio State: 75-1

As hard as it is to move on from BEATING BAYLOR…..I am now focused on The Dance. There were tons of tremendous quotes by players and coaches after the win …and through today. HOWEVER, the one I liked the most……THE VERY MOSTEST…..was by A. Moore. On the plane……she looked into the camera and said to the other teams in The Dance…..”we’re coming for ya”. Sent chills up my back. I’m with Coach Beard when he said he thought the women were legitimate national championship contenders. And Schaefer said he didn’t think there was anybody out there saying they wanted to play Texas. Lots of media slowly climbing on the bed of the bandwagon. Did I say that I was excited for the opportunities this team has?

Yep, I wish they would break these awards down to defensive and offensive, but it seems like they always

And she's definitely not in charge of steering the ship! Offense, defense, steering the ship...sounds like Rori to me.

Prior to the season beginning Head Coach Joe Frager at Fairfield announced this would be his last due to “developments with his personal health” after 14 seasons there. His team will no doubt be inspired to send him out on a good note.

He was Maria Conlon’s high school coach when UCONN was recruiting her and he won several high school state championships and also a National Championship at Div II Southern Connecticut before going to Fairfield. This is Fairfield’s first NCAA appearance in 21 years.
