Luigi the Assassin -- Hailed as a Hero by Many

We get closer to the Idiocracy scenario every year.

Starbucks to introduce their specials from that show; hospitals are doing it.

Another ******* moron who doesn’t understand western violence or the reasons for the lower life expectancy in the US (higher suicide rate, higher overdoses, higher auto accidents, higher murders, higher total accidents, higher obesity, etc.). None of the foregoing has to do with health insurance industry. This ******* moron went to an ivy school?
Here’s the data that backs the point above:

From the articles I have seen he was born with a spinal condition. He aggravated surfing and had surgery where they put stents in in spine. Now he is impotent.

That sounds like a surgeon's "fault" not insurance. In defense of the doctors, they probably warned Luigi of the possible issues.

I am sure they did and we don't know exactly what all happened or if there was more than one surgery
I also read he was using heavy drugs which skewed his reasoning
His wealthy family will make sure he gets most skilled defense money can buy.

I had a stroke, Insurance paid short term disability denied long term disability, an attorney told me that a lawsuit doesn't look winable but I am not shooting anyone just caught up in their denial process luckily I have very good stocks I own and have a small pension but they bent me over

I know there are a lot of horror stories out there. I've had United for 24 years. In that time, I've had cancer three times (thyroid, melanoma, Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia). I'm in complete remission and my finances are in good shape because they paid everything net of the standard deductibles/out of pocket. I am now seeing an Oncologist, an Endocrinologist, a dermatologist and a Urologist to boot every year. I have my blood pulled every time I go. Again, all is well on the insurance coverage. Not one problem or phone call that I've had to make. I don't know why others have problems. For some reason, mine went fine.

That being said, I'm not in love with billionaires or corporate America. I'm also not in love with the a-holes on Mopac Expressway. Neither am I in love with paying my taxes.

But, I'm not about to do what Luigi did. Not even close. Reality is something we all have to process. Sure, the world sucks. We all know it. I'm not an anarchist or a murderer. So, I assume things can happen and try not to add problems from my own actions to those that knock on my door without an invitation. An insurance company is a business. If the answer is to shut them all down and have a single-payer plan through the government then who should we be mad at? I don't know if single-payer would be better.

I'm thinking not.

I also think if they repeal Obamacare they either need to have the replacement ready to go in the same bill or at least keep portability as the law of the land. I also liked the provision that we could keep our kids on our plan until they are 26. They might be a high age but it should be at least until they become 23 (gives them five year to go to college).

Nobody's going to repeal Obamacare. It's a useful political point to make because of the problems that it has. However, there's no consensus on what to do in its place, if anything.

Now I'm hearing Luigi wasn't even a customer of United Healthcare. Obviously he's a murdering nutjob but this is even worse. The online freaks who are cheering him on probably assumed he had a legitimate grievance against them. Now it appears he just decided to blast a random CEO in the industry. To me this is a death penalty case. There is nothing to learn. He's not a martyr for all us in the quest to socialize our country and "guarantee" the greatest health care system ever with any and all ailments to be treated for as long as you want it. I mockingly say that because the Liberals I see online are that selfish and idealistic. They want it all and they want YOU AND ME to pay for it.

What a liberal doesn’t believe in:
We live in a world of limited resources.

Check CNN's "thoughtful" box on their page this morning. This is Liberalism; trying to find deep reasons that justify crime and to blame the police or corporate America or white people. No. He's a murderer and it should be first degree murder with the death penalty as the result.

Absolutely correct, bystander. Premeditated.
Agree, but the issue is New York Law reserves first-degree murder for public officials. That is why the second-degree murder charge carries the same sentencing structure. He will be in prison for the remainder of his life. (In other words, second-degree murder in New York is equivalent to first-degree murder in Texas. It goes back to the 20's and 30's and all of the crocked public officials who either were the mob bosses or assisted the mob bosses in New York.)

I hear you. I read that. I'm just saying in the world where @Mr. Deez was dictator (I say he should be King), then it would be a clear 1st degree murder with the chair being the consequence.

If one of the crazies buys as little as one share of stock, he can normally attend the shareholder meeting of the insurance company.

@Mr. Deez Found it! The article from 2023 predicting more Ted Kaczynski‘s in the future (read last paragraph):

From your link, quoting Kaczinski:

"The Industrial Revolution and its consequences have been a disaster for the human race... they have destabilized society, have made life unfulfilling, have subjected human beings to indignities, have led to widespread psychological suffering..."

This rests on a sort of Merry Old England fallacy. That pre-industrial society was better in most of these areas then modern society. A nostalgia for an imagined past that is much better than the actual past.

Contra Unabomer Kaczinski--

The Industrial Revolution:

1. Destabilized society-- it sure did. So did the Huns running through and burning your town down, killing all the men, raping all the women, and kidnapping all the boys to make into their warriors. For a (not) Merry Old England example of such genocide, read about the "Harrowing of the North". The Normans kicked a lot of a$$, but they weren't so nice to their conquered.

2. Have made life unfulfilling -- probably so. The fulfillment of life in pre-industrial days was through the Church, which acted in tandem with the King (G_d's representative for your nation on Earth) and other political Lords to make an ordered society in line with Church teachings. However, if you weren't in line, you were in very big trouble. The "nihilists" would definitely not be in line.

3. Have subjected human beings to indignities. Today's indignities pale in comparison to the indignities suffered by the 99% bowing before their Earthly Lords and Ladies. The punishments, the humiliations. They "went medieval" on the masses. Take Japan, you could be beheaded if you didn't move out of the way of, and bow low to a Samurai walking down the street. The poor--they don't have a good lot these days, but in the olden days they mostly starved.

The opening ceremonies of the London Olympics played into this fantasy of a utopian pre-industrial England.

But Luigi doesn't fight to destroy technology and the modern world. Luigi just really hates health insurance executives.
