I would say no not compared to Austin. BR took in a lot of NO population after Katrina. So did Houston and our crime rate soared.

Downtown?

The Country Club & Sherwood Forest are nice

I don’t play Golf. But I do know the nice areas having spent 9 years working over there and commuting back to Houston. Every 2 weeks or so. South of LSU and all around Highland Drive are nice. There’s a nice area off of College Drive N of LSU close to BR Country Club. That’s about it. Sherwood Forrest is good but not that great.

I looked at two homes over there but no I couldn’t do that to my wife and kids. So I commuted. University Club is a nice golf course if you go to BR for next years game. I plan to go.

Downtown has a lot of good restaurants and a casino if you like that sort of thing. It’s not as good as downtown Austin/ Houston/ Dallas/SA, but it’s the best LA has to offer.

I miss seeing some friends I made over there and the food. But I Love spending all my time in Texas now!

Actually it is the conservatives who are moving out of California to Austin because of the over regulation and taxation. So Austin is much more conservative than it was 40 years ago.
