I honestly don't see Kennard as that kind of "hey, look at me" recruit, ala M. Bennett and others. He seems like a pretty straightforward, well-grounded guy, who will be a big asset to whichever school he picks.

Sounds like not only a tremendous prospect but a fine young man who would fit in perfectly on the 40. Not getting my hopes too high but would be really pleased if he decides for the Horns.

I am not getting my hopes up. When is the last time Texas got an out of state recruit that held a press conference to announce his decision?
 
These late selections rarely work out for us and this one has the smell of USC all over it. My guess is that will be another last-minute recruiting loss for UT.
 
I haven't followed his recruiting well, but I would say the timing of everything would be in the horns favor.

The Maxpreps article said Mack visited him on the 22nd, and now it is the 23rd, and he is announcing his press conference to list which school he is going to. Most players seem to commit right after a visit, and the last visit was from UT.

Just seems like he made up his mind in the last day, and Mack was the one in his ear during that time
 
well he did meet mack last; and muschamp > all, right? I'd probably make USC 7 point favorites to win this one.

Glad that Big Game Bob did not visit the young man. Give him two AA batteries in a remote and he can watch movies with the family and serve them their food. If he really wants the player he can feed the family grapes, pulling the seeds out with his mouth before.

This guy sounds like a good kid and I too will root for him wherever he goes. To be able to say you have a school like Cal in the mix is impressive. Same goes for Stanford with a kid like our own Sherrod Harris. It is not easy to qualify to those schools.
 
I think you are underestimating Mack.

"Another positional coach" could easily be Mack in glasses, wig, & fake stache.

I am a little more optimistic than I have been for a while that UT will snag this kid at the end, but history says we don't. We will just have to wait until Tues. to see if the ol' snake oil soaked in enough.
 
What's the best way for us to find out Tuesday ASAP? (Will the press conference be help online as well, or do we need to wait for bulletins from the pay sites?)
 
Thanks for the optimistic posts and links. I'd lost tract the past week (got the flu).

I'm wondering if it was Wil that went. Wondering how he might talk -- man to man -- with a stellar defensive player. Given the history of how Wil applied himself to the game. Extremely inspirit. Plus Wil has designs on what this defense is going to grow to be, and soon.

Mack or Wil. But if it was my call, I'd darn NEAR have sent Coach Muschamp.

EDIT EDIT EDIT typo...I wrote "never" and meant "near"... was stupid grammar.... "I would have sent Wil" is what I meant.
 
Not sure if that last post is saying Muschamp should, or shouldn't have gone on that visit, but I am quite comfortable with him being there.

Hu - If you meant that you woulda sent Mack over WM, I don't think Mack was eligible to go again.
