Kennard: 'Commitment could be coming really soon'

Hey folks. Along with covering the Under Armour practices and Army Bowl practices, we also are covering the Horns out in Arizona as they prepare for the Fiesta Bowl, and we had an opportunity to talk in person with Devon Kennard after he attended Longhorn practice earlier today. Here's a free report on that conversation, where Kennard reveals his commitment time frame and in-home visits scheduled for next week, responds to the report that he has already decided on USC, and a lot more:

Devon Kennard: 'A commitment could be coming really soon'

Feel free to share the link. Enjoy!

Good stuff thanks for sharing. Clendon, what does your gut tell you on this one? Do we have a 50/50 chance?

Would love to have kennard join the Horns.
Might be a good sign that he was at our practice rather than watching U$C in the Rose Bowl. He drove to El Paso earlier this year to watch Texas.

As MacFarland to OU, Kennard to USC. He and Carroll will probably watch the Fiesta Bowl together and talk about how USC's defense is higher ranked than Texas'. If UT wants to hold a slim chance of landing him, the Horns better beat the hell out of tOSU. Even then, he is a longshot.

Also, who was the point man in his recruitment for SC?
The Trojans DC just followed Sarkisian to Washington...although Carroll is involved with their defense, I wonder how this move may affect his decision.

IHe had a visit with Carroll yesterday and with Cal today right? If so you would think a decision will come either end of this week or early next week.

from the article I read, it does sound llike USC is the clear choice and as long as Kenard hits it off with the new hire, he's theirs.

his commitment won't happen until USC hires/names someone and kennard meets with him.

Well, we know the staff at Texas is stable...but I don't think it will matter...too bad, he's a great one.

In the last 4 years, we have only gotten 4 top recruits in January, none 5 stars. I don't foresee anything different this year. We are done. Celebrate who we got, as it is a great class.

Odd. It was supposed to be a toss up between UT and SC before both the DC and position coach at SC leave for greener pastures. Now, it's still a toss up? Huh?

Kennard was told the hire would be someone familiar with SC, I don't see Robinson as that.

as stated above, since its now a toss-up after SC lost coaches, made me conclude he was and still is SC's. Go close the deal with Mims and if we get them both, better for us.

Seto turned down the job at Washington while the current USC coordinator left to take it. Makes you wonder if he new he would be getting the job before hand. Also curious that they made Norton assistant head coach since he had already turned down going to UCLA.

I will not lose sleep if we get Mimms instead of Kennard. Kennard is a hoss and will be a great one. But, Mimms wants to be a Longhorn. Wish we could have both. But, TM will be an All-American at Texas in my opinion.

There was a positive post on another board that the Kennard situation is not over, and in fact favors UT as of today, but that it's a fluid thing.

This should be obvious from the fact that Kennard hasn't committed. If he was sure of his decision he would have by chosen by now. Most of news from him and those close to him suggest he would like it to be over.

It is a tough choice, USC or UT. Both great schools. Hopefully he picks the good guys, but the odds are he stays a little closer to home and goes to USC.

Closing with Mims and Kennard would be huge...our D-line would be a monster in a year or two.

I think we just get Mims, but Kennard would be gravy!
