Kavanaugh's SC Confirmation Hearings

Look, it doesn’t matter that Kavanaugh is legally off the hook, or even that Ford lied. Politically, the Republicans are in a no win situation.
A former Yale basketball player came forward and stated Kavanaugh was a heavy drinker and acted belligerently when drinking. This contradicts his testimony and gives possible credence to woman #2 who stated he was drunk and waved his dick in her face. The political issue now becomes Kavanaugh’s testimony of not being a drunk and not being an aggressive drunk has been challenged by a former male colleague.
No matter what the Republicans decide now, they are screwed as the issue will be kept alive until the November election. Nobody cares about Ford anymore. It’s all about “like a virgin” Kavanaugh.

Agreed. Kavanaugh has gone all in on full denial. He has boxed himself in. He could have gone the beg for forgiveness route. But the Dems are very hungry sharks. They will eat anyone and anything. Even a license plate.

College students drinking heavily? Say it ain't so.... Law students drinking heavily? Well in that case, none should ever be allowed to become high ranking judges...

Drinking heavily and having a belligerent side when drunk as an early 20 something has ZERO bearing on your professional record of over 20 years.

It bothers me that everything about Kavanaugh revolves around him when he was a teenager or in college.

At this point in time, "what difference does it make!"

Another thing about the Prosecutor Mitchell. Obama awarded her sex crime prosecutor of the year for the DHS. So this isn't a case of a political opponent making statements about Ford. This is a woman who has made a name for prosecuting male sexual offenders in the defense of women.

So here is an actually provable groping incident involving two drunk men, beer, and an unwilling participant.

More Megyn Kelly stuff, this time on the creepy porn lawyer and his client (Swetnik) -- a woman some posters in here seem to be hitching their wagons to. My advice is to unhitch without delay

In his post-New-NAFTA presser today, the media asked Trump several Qs about his nominee. Trump just sort of casually mentioned that he personally had seen an “aggressive” Dem Senator in “compromising situations.”

Trump's Q&A sessions with "the media" are still great, if you ever have the time to watch. For example, today he called the media "loco." He then explained his joke to them admitting he used that word because of the new trade deal with Mexico.

"I can honestly say I've never had a beer in my life. One of my only good traits. I don't drink. Can you imagine if I had, what a mess I be? I'd be the world's worst."

He also shut CNN down today, telling them to "zip it."

This new standard for the Supremes the Dems are articulating today may create problems for them that they have not yet thought their way through (as usual)

Dems will NEVER quit.
A friend of Katz is sending emails asking for more accusers.
"The emails, obtained by the Washington Free Beacon, are seeking corroboration from classmates of Kavanaugh about yearbook entries and gang rape.

One email sent on Sept. 26 was delivered to roughly 50 alumni of Stone Ridge School of the Sacred Heart, an all girls school near Georgetown Prep, with the subject line, "Corroboration Needed."

"Debra Katz needs to find people who are familiar with what the slang terms used by Brett Kavanaugh in his yearbook page meant—such as FFFF—Devil's Triangle—and Renate Alumnus," wrote Andrea Caputo Rose, who identifies herself as a friend of Katz. "If you can speak to any of these and are willing to sign an affidavit, please contact her."
Friend of Ford Lawyer Secretly Sent Emails Soliciting More Women to Come Forward Against Kavanaugh
This Rose person is a partisan POS
"Rose said her purpose in the original request was not to "attack" Kavanaugh, who she claimed was a friend in high school.
While she said her motivation was not political, she bemoaned Kavanaugh's nomination as being pushed by "privileged" white men."

"Again, my goal is not to attack someone I considered a friend in high school, nor is it to promote a political agenda," she said. "There is a lot of room for disagreement on policies and people, but I think that one thing we can agree on is the importance of honesty and transparency in our elected (and appointed) officials. I oppose having powerful officials who are foisted upon us by backroom dealings of a privileged few (predominantly white men)."

More sick slime at link.

there were other times I wish he had kept some of his anger under control.
Yes, it'd have removed the "partisanship" by identifying the source and though #HisSilentinBengHazi is probably deeply involved ... reciting the Clinton name wasn't necessary.

Personally, after the 19th iteration of "I like beer" ... I "had my fill." I get it ... I'm an enigma. non-drinker. One of the relative few who were HS students and was never drunk ... in fact ... I never even tasted it until I became a fighter pilot ... didn't like it ... so there.

That personal preference aside ... (I've seen nothing good ever from getting drunk) ... I thought his comments were outstanding and they highlighted the fact there MIGHT be 2 or 3 on that judiciary committee who are qualified to so much as carry his robe to/from the cleaners.

Partisanship? That's Feinstein and company this time. BIGLY.

The 17th Amendment is showing its rear end now ... if these Senators were beholden to their respective State Legislatures, the likelihood of this "kabuki?" theater would be greatly diminished.

Pitiful.

how Gorsuch was not treated like Kavanaugh and was wondering why the difference.
I think Gorsach was given a pass on the "ridicularity" of the committee because the numbers on the court ... he was filling Scalia's seat and while I've never known the partisanship to show consideration (particularly of the left) ...

Kavanaugh's nomination fills Kennedy's vacancy. That's one I believe wasn't accounted-for in the presumptive count of the court going forward ... and now they are fighting like rabid dogs ... like the 3rd monkey to be loaded onto the Ark ... to resist losing the "count" before Ginsberg retires (which CAN'T be too many more months)

Sure. Nothing wrong with the Dem behavior here. This is just par for the course at this point.
Nancy Pelosi slams ‘hysterical’ Brett Kavanaugh, discusses potential impeachment proceedings

I think this is PRECISELY the purpose of this charade. They know he'll almost certainly be confirmed, but they "can't" lose the court count with Ginsberg being a likely short timer ... and the plausibility of regaining the House in January. This just lays the ground work.

Actually it is more likely it was a young Vlad Putin who did that. It sounds more of his style.

I listened to his remarks earlier today, and I agree. He talked about beer more than I do, and I like beer a lot and have a great appreciation for it. He took it further than he should have. I'm not a drunk. I'm just a guy who likes a good beer, so I understand that him talking about beer doesn't make him a drunk. However, plenty of people don't understand that.

Senators questioning high school and college drinking takes hypocrisy to a new level. Let’s urine test the next hearing. I bet 75% fail.

Wow. The next "scandal" is going to be that he once farted audibly in class.

"He's a sexual predator" didn't work, so we'll see if "he's an angry guy and used to be a crazy drunk" will. They're willing to do whatever it takes. And it is amazing since everyone who has worked in politics knows that large numbers of them go to parties and receptions and drink a lot several times per month.

Back in 1999, I was at the sine die party at the Austin Club. A prominent state representative got so shitfaced drunk that he stumbled into a worker who was carrying a tray of dirty glasses, which made him drop it on me. I was pissed off. He didn't apologize - just regained his footing and kept walking, and left me covered in nasty-*** dirty and broken glass and in a ruined suit. Was he a selfish prick for this? Yes. Did he deserve to lose his career over it? No.

Hell, Ruth Bader Ginsburg admitted that she passed out drunk at the State of the Union. That wasn't 30 years ago. It was 3 or 4 years ago. When Democrats announce their willingness to impeach and remove her from office, the GOP should announce that they're pulling the Kavanaugh nomination.

Side note - if they want to talk about disqualifying him for liking UB40, I'm open to that discussion.

In 24 hours, Kavanaugh has to gone from "serial gang rapist" to "maybe the guy who threw an ice cube back in 1985."

The general spectacle of women lying under oath while giving direct testimony is still going on. The majority of wrongful convictions overturned by DNA/science are rape cases. Most of those convictions were obtained via eyewitness testimony, usually the victim. However, I concede it is a difficult argument to make in public, especially in a politicized setting. Nonetheless, it is there to be made if anyone is brave enough.

Or, as in this matter, video

According to the WSJ, Mitch McConnell will call for a vote on Kavanaugh without knowing where 3 key Republicans stand or a completed FBI investigation.

I think Mitch must have an idea how the vote will play out. He doesn't strike me as much of a gambler.

McConnell just said the Senate will vote this week.
I did not know the jerk Dems have called for 23 more people to be interviewed.
