LinkWestern lawmakers gather in Utah to talk federal land takeover
‘It’s time’ -- Lawmakers from 9 states gather in Utah, discuss ways to take control of federal lands.
.....

I've run this picture before. Here it is again.

This is how Obama spins stuff...

"Look...this isn't radical. This is just common sense policy."

Well, I hope the people in those states run with this. Common sense dictates there shouldn't be that much federally controlled land ever.

I agree with that NV Assembly woman
Is there anyone with a brain who ever thought our own Gov't would send armed men including Snipers, attack dogs and SWAT armored vehicles to collect money owned by a citizen?
Let alone endanger and kill cattle owned by a citizen?

You guys do realize that this issue was pretty much resolved in 1865 (technically 1789 but who is counting), right?

paso
do you really think it was necessary to send armed agents including snipers attack dogs and armored vehicles to collect money from a citizen?
to kill his cattle?

I think it was necessary because that person willfully and deliberately has defied two different court orders that he remove his cattle from BLM land. It was necessary because armed fruitcakes decided to "fight" the federal government enforcing a final judgment. This is a phony dispute and anyone who interferes needs to be arrested and prosecuted to the full extent of the law.

We live in a nation of laws. Bundy is a thief and has lost numerous court cases over this issue. He should be prosecuted for criminal contempt of court for his actions last week.

The judge who ordered that Bundy remove the cattle (or else the BLM would round them up) was appointed by none other than Ronald Reagan. The only thing remarkable about this case is how long Bundy has gotten away with stealing resources and how anyone at all perceives him as a hero. He is a thief and probably crazy.

This issue is a joke. I cannot even comprehend how far off the deep end Bundy and his supporters are. They are like those Republic of Texas goofballs that are all in federal prison. Hopefully, this is where Bundy and his armed supporters all reside by the end of this year.

Or maybe they can move to Somalia where lawlessness is the norm.

And the BLM was rounding up his cattle and removing them from two parcels of BLM land. They were not killing them. This was being done pursuant to two different court orders. One of them was entered in 1998 and the other in 2013. Bundy appealed the 1998 one and lost. I am not sure whether he appealed the 2013 order.

This is an utterly ordinary legal dispute, but Bundy cannot just comply. He instead tries to make this some goofy cause celebre amongst nitwits who want to refight the civil war (or war between the states if you desire). This is stupid.

And he refuses to pay the US $1.2 million he owes claiming that the federal government is not legitimate. WTF? I think this argument came to an end in 1789. These fringe fruitcakes need to comply or be arrested.

Paso
I think you have been reading too many lib MSM accounts
do back and take a look at the timeline
see when armed federal " rangers" moved in
pay attention to how many armed citizens you see among the women being threatened by the dogs
How many were there when the snipers were first positioned.

But if you think that show of force is appropriate for a citizen who have never harmed any one but who owes money
How many armed agents with snipers should we send to the border where we know many people have snuck and are sneaking in by the thousands. may of these who sneak in have killed innocent people?

according to you it is all about obeying the law, right?

I have read the court orders.

Have you?

Here it is for you:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:United_States_v_Bundy_Court_Order_July_2013.pdf

Why doesn't he just comply and get his cattle off the land?

Answer this question.

Can you?

No it isn't.

It is a way to avoid answering my question and it is a National Review opinion piece devoid of facts and full of nonsense.

Can you guys answer my question?

As for deporting illegal aliens, who deported more illegal aliens Obama or George W. Bush?

I love the lack of focus and rope-a-dope by the Right.

Should Bundy comply with the two court orders?

Yes or No?

Why is this so tough?

And BTW the authority of the executive branch to enforce the law is part of the constitution and the nation of laws in which we live. I get that you guys neither comprehend nor understand this. Somalia is really nice this time of year. We can go into Bush's signing statements if we need to yet another time.

Now answer the question.

We got it Paso. Enforce the constitution when it fits your agenda. Otherwise, just use your pen.

Not even close. The Faux News echo chamber continues.

Bundy is deliberately ignoring two court orders.

Can you point me to the court order that Obama is deliberately ignoring?

Now answer the question.

(snicker)

I guess the Constitution is not a court order, but I think it fits here:

Article II, Section 3, of the Constitution states that the president "shall take Care that the Laws be faithfully executed." This is a duty, not a discretionary power. While the president does have substantial discretion about how to enforce a law, he has no discretion about whether to do so.

I guess a more appropriate legal response would have been to drone Bundy?

I am appalled at the ignorance of so-called "constitutional conservatives" about the concept of federal lands.

Is this willful ignorance, or selective ignorance, or just plain stupidity?

I am very conservative, but this is just wacky.

States were admitted to the Union under certain conditions, one of which is that the federal government set their boundaries, and took control of "public lands." It's all right there, signed by our Founding Fathers.

Texas is an exception, as it retained its public lands. Thankfully, that resulted in the exorbitant oil riches of the Permian Basin bankrolling The University of Texas and Texas A&M systems.

Now, the feds haven't always played nice-like with Texas on public lands... See the Tidelands controversy from the 1950s:

I am no supporter of Bundy, but sending armed snipers scares me. But I know everyone trusts the most transparent President ever!

I think Bundy should pay or get his cattle off
BUT I do not think the Fed gov't should EVER sent armed agents snipers attack dogs and sarmored SWAT vehicles to collect money

I wonder why the gov't can't put a lien on the cattle instead of shooting them and killing them?

I also wonder why Bundy's particular stretch of land is so much more important to the survival of that tortoise than other land ( 43,000 acres) Also in Clark county was sold for development of gold course and master community AFTER the Feds declared the tortoise " threatened"

Those issues do not change that Bundy should pay what he owes But as long as we are being all righteous maybe we should shine some light of crap like that going on in the same county

Cana said it well
"It should raise enough stink that something is done about the Feds having all this land that they can choose who benefits from"

within the same county Donors of Harry Reid were allowed to destroy the habitat of the threatened turtle and I missed the story on armed agents snipers and attack dogs on the bulldozers plundering the habitats
Oh wait somehow THAT is ok.
And somehow it was ok for the Feds to run the cattle from helicopters and shoot the and kill cattle.

I didn't see any armed militia around the women being threatened by attack dogs or the men being tased.

If people are ok with the terrorists tactics used by the BO gov't I wonder if they will be ok for whoever the BO people decide to go after next.

Does ANYONE really think this was about Bundy running cattle on that desert wasteland? If so does ANYONE really think this was the only way to solve this?

Bundy has ignored one court order since 1998 and another since July of 2013.

What other way is there to get his cattle off this land?

The initial Harry Reid nonsense about the Chinese was a lie. I still do not understand how two wrongs (assuming there even is anything with Harry Reid) make a right, but you guys have at it.

Not only is there a private solar company on public land, they received a $1.6 BILLION federal loan guarantee. I doubt if we ever see that money repaid. And we all know the BLM is all about the environment..
