Indiana vs. Texas

Daly walked

nothing else in the bottom of the second. Still 1-0 us.

This ump isn’t particularly consistent with his balls and strikes calls.

Another one. It’s the Jack O show.

3 up
3 down
For Zane Morehouse and Jack O‘ Dowd
In the top of the third.

I think it’s safe to say that we’ve left all those ridiculous errors behind us in Arlington.

Wow!

Awesome catch by the Indiana 3rd baseman.

Diving into the crowd for the catch and the out. He flipped head over heels in the crowd but held on.

Give credit where credit is due.

3 up
3 down

for Zane Morehouse and the Texas D in the top of the 4th.
4 innings pitched by Morehouse—zero runs surrendered.

Zane’s been dealin’

Only 50 on Zane’s pitch count through four.

Zane’s got some movement on some pitches going from the left to right (and he’s a right hander). And a real nice breaker that breaks a lot right at the plate. He’s got a bag of tricks. Just make that first pitch a strike and don’t get behind the batters. Zane’s ceiling is in the Stratosphere.

I really like Zane's movement, he has got to learn to throw first pitch strikes and stay ahead of batters though, its maddening to me lol.

He battled out of his mistakes, the HBP's and walks, though but I wish he would clean it up.

1 out single puts a runner on first, first hit surrendered by Burke in his 2 plus innings of work.

Texas gets back to .500 on the year and although the error bug did raise its head again once today the team seems to have put last weeks lost weekend in Arlington behind them. Chance for sweep tomorrow.:bevo:

IMHO, This game was largely determined by the fielding. Our fielding was good. Their fielding was bad. We had multiple double plays that dug our pitchers out of holes. Indiana had some costly errors that led to Longhorn runs.

While it’s still early in the season, and we’re using games to experiment and see who’s got what, mentally we needed this win. Good job Horns!

The pitchers today:

Zane Morehouse—a legit weekend starter. Put lots of sauce on his pitches today. He still shows that aggravating tendency to frequently get behind batters in the count. As he keeps getting better and cleaning it up, he could emerge as a star. Today, the good fielding and double plays really helped out. Still, overall good job.

DuPlantier—looked like last year today. Walked batter after batter. Coach was having none of this and yanked him before too much damage could be done. He looked good in previous games. Not today.

Shaw—clutch performance to get us out of DuPlantiers loaded bases inning without too much damage being done. Not perfect, but overall…good job.

Burke—very good job. This guy may advance up the chart to be one of our top stoppers.

Had this been last year…

Coach would have left DuP in the game and we’d suffer a grand slam. Then we’d throw in some unreliable reliever who would give up 2 more runs. Next, we’d put in a reliever who mows them down his first inning, but walks a batter in the next inning before he hits the showers. Another unreliable reliever would enter the game and give up a 2 run double. Some amazing fielding would somehow dig him out of the mess. Buuuuuuuuuuutttttttttt……………………… Ivan, Murph, Skye, Faltine, and Ardoin would combine to bash in 6 more runs of our own.

The final would have been:

Indiana 10
Texas 11

This season’s team are the types that win games in Omaha (not 2 and Q), assuming they are good enough to get there.
