Indiana vs. Texas

We needed this one.

Pitchers duel between Gordon and “Big Ben” Seiler.

Our bats finally came alive late in the game.

We’ll see if Zane Morehouse and Pitcher X can keep Indiana down like Gordon did.

Season record going back right direction after painful 0-3 start.

2-3, settling down and gaining some momentum.

Now win the series or better sweep vs. IU.

"Big Ben" Seiler
6'6"
245 lbs

LHP

Grad transfer from Sienna.

Strikeout pitcher. Averages well over 1 strikeout per inning.

Holds the NCAA (last season) record with 19 strikeouts in one game, vs. Niagara. Had a 16 strikeout game vs. St. Peters.

Got hit hard by Auburn.

Here's a scouting report from Lindsay Crosby, the "Big Baseball Guy" on Twitter. Click his link:

(not a real big heat thrower despite his size. Sounds like his curve and slider get a lot of his numerous strikeouts)

Dude gets a lot of strikeouts, but Auburn drilled him with hits. Disciplined batting may carry the day.

Siena's Seiler sets NCAA season-high with 19 strikeouts vs. Niagara

Big Ben pitched really well today. He was neck and neck with Gordon in a pitcher’s duel for most of the game. IU’s coach may have pulled him too soon.

If we had no errors in Arlington, we would have gone 2-1 instead of 0-3. We were playing like the Three Stooges in the field at times up in Arlington. I bet Coach had a talk with the team—and ran lots of fielding practice.

Jessee is also a really tough out for IU.

I’d like to sweep them, but they’re a pretty decent team. Maybe about like KSU or WV. Big Ben Seiler was a stud on the small college level (Sienna transfer). He’ll be a stud pitcher in D1 baseball as well.

I think both Stuart and Tole fulfill a role that was lacking last year (other than Harrison). Solid, and reliable enough, middle relievers to take us through innings 5 or 6 through innings 7 or 8 without giving up too many runs. You know—they usually won’t blow the game.

I was dealing with family business and was unable to watch the game as I intended so it was nice to read through the comments on here afterward and better yet, get the win, thank you Chop for your contribution.

Notables:

Stuart lowered his ERA down to a very respectable 2.25

Lucas Gordon stays dominant on the mound :hookem:

Guillemette's sac fly to score a run, remember, the guy hasn't struck out yet, very productive at bats, if a runner is on 3rd, he is very likely to score it. kudos to him

P. Brown - staying hot, IU head coach tried to get his corner infielders killed, guess they thought he was going to ......bunt??? instead he hits a rocket over the fence, if that ball is down, someone is having baseball for supper. :yikes:

Campbell and Kennedy - Campbells avg has dropped some but his on base % is 500!! and Kennedy's avg is climbing nicely.

Defense - no errors :fire:

Work in progress:

Tole - still allowing too many hits (for my comfort zone)

Offense - I would like to see improved performance against Friday night starters. I will feel better about the playoffs and going toe to toe with a top 10 team for three games when i see us get to these guys. Still early though.

Overall, a win is a win. Onto the next game today and unless something unforeseen occurs, I'll be watching that one.

oh, not sure why coach keeps putting Flores near the middle of the order, i understand trying to instill confidence in someone but its creating a less efficient offensive lineup.

Agree with the positive comments on Guilliamette. He’s a smart batter. Also, his catch of that fly ball with his glove over the rail and into Indiana’s dugout was Major League stuff.

Zane Morehouse has got to be on top of his game today. Indiana’s lineup is pretty good. And it’s not just Jessee.

Nice stop by Thomas.

No runs in the top of the first. Good job D.

Zane has that bad habit of getting behind batters. But he dug himself out—with the help of really good D by Daly and Thomas.

Manase—a big throwin’ Samoan takes the mound for Indiana. He likes to throw a Mike Scott style split fingered fast ball.

Yeah, lead off walks is living dangerously and will get you in trouble, his pitches have a lot of movement. I want to see a first pitch strike for every batter.

also noticed the DH was moved down in the order but I wish he would have flipped JT and Daly, otherwise I like the lineup

*update, Galvan is the catcher who was moved down but Guillemette is the DH and still where he usually hits

Ha!

:lmao::lmao::lmao:

Kennedy drives the RF back to the warning track for a can of corn fly out. But the RF drops it!!!!!!

EK on third

:bounce1::bounce1:

Sac fly by Brown. EK scores. Campbell doesn’t even come close to making it to second.

1-0 us.

Manase and IU’s Catcher Ellis could probably each squat 500 pounds. Those are some big strong looking dudes for baseball players.

Zane’s got some movement on some pitches going from the left to right (and he’s a right hander). And a real nice breaker that breaks a lot right at the plate. He’s got a bag of tricks. Just make that first pitch a strike and don’t get behind the batters. Zane’s ceiling is in the Stratosphere.
