We snickered all weekend about the “belt cards” Western Illinois wore this weekend…looked like those change maker things the ABC Club volunteers wore to sell rodeo programs.

Couldn’t agree more. We have failures of both talent acquisition (lagging in both recruiting and portal) and coaching (poor fielding and base running gaffes). If the excuse for the latter is “we’re young”, then see the former….

The coach who needs to prove himself is Steve Rodriguez. Pitching is doing fine. Batting is sub-standard. Plus: After 6 years of coaching at Baylor, Rodriguez left Baylor in absolute shambles. After 6 years of Rodriguez at the helm, the Baylor program isn't just bad, it's horrendous, it's atrocious, it's embarrassing.




Maybe he can get it done here as a hitting coach, but it seems to me that right now he's on the hot seat.
