Ike Will Threaten Texas-Arkansas

Is there a map the coincide's with the GFDL map that has cities on it. Its kinda hard to explain this to women in my family. (No offense ladies)

Will this do?

I can't imagine Arkansas not rescheduling this game. It wouldn't help at all. If rather lose 100 to 0 than refuse to play. 6 wins is the magic number for the hogs this year and cancelling a game won't help that.

I will be the first person on here saying it was a ***** move if it happens. But I really do not see that being an option. No matter what whocares logic is.

On the subject of hotel availability for the 27th, if the game is postponed till then, I just booked a room at the Hilton at the airport for that weekend.

There is talk or Houston and Air Force moving their game to Texas stadium. A decision is supposed to be made shortly. It was in the Denver paper yesterday.

it doesn't matter what the weather will be like in Austin... why aren't some people reading these posts?

the weather in Austin isn't the factor.

it is the coastal evacuees we need to make room for. that is the ONLY cause for cancelling this game. this game will not be cancelled on the 'what-if's' of a storm's capability.

Bob

Its easier to get to 6 wins when you play 12 games rather than 11, even if that 12th opponent is a heavy favorite. There is little to gain by cancelling the game.

Can everyone who is saying it's all about the current planned evacuations please explain what the difference is between these evacuations and the combined Katrina+Rita refugee/evacuation situation. I have a hard time seeing how the former would cause heavy traffic in the Austin area when the latter didn't cause even a light noticeable difference, but maybe I'm missing something.

This is turning in to a pissing match. If you think you can play a football game in possible Category 1 Hurricane conditions, you are absolutely batshit insane. Please read an official hurricane forecast before spewing your ignorance.

From an email sent to UT Athletics staff:

Coaches -
A decision will be made at noon on Thursday as to whether the football game will be rescheduled for a later date due to Hurricane Ike. We know that many of our teams have recruits planning to visit for this weekend and we will get the information out to you as soon as a decision regarding the football game is made.

Right now, we plan to play the volleyball matches on Thursday and Friday, and the soccer match on Friday. If Friday match times, or if the soccer match on Sunday are affected, we will let you know.

If you have questions, let me know. We will keep you posted.

The model I'm looking at says says 31mph at game time and around 40mph after 7 pm. I'm thinking were are playing football this weekend. Bring Beer and a poncho

I somehow see this ending up being one of those "were you there when" kind of games in the years to come. It will probably be windy and rainy but it will end up being one of those things that fans look back on later and were like, " Yeah, I remember that game. Weather was pretty crazy, we got soaked, but everyone parties in the stands, and we poundy arky, so it was all good."

The official forecast has moved Ike slightly farther east of Austin. If this happens, we are on the clean side but it will still be a rainy day. But I'd still expect an influx of coastal evacuees. Anyone traveling from Houston to the game might think twice.
