If you think California is bad, check out Mississippi

One of the best things the Obama administration did was Michelle Obama's push to make schools serve healthier food.

One thing that Cal has over Mississippi is that life expectancy is higher there.

That seems to be a trend among blue states vs. red states although we can't be 100% sure because blue states do seem to doctor their crime stats.

It's not out of the question that blue states are screwing around with their life expectancy stats too.

I suspect that regional food preferences may play a part.

It is also What they eat
If you have ever been behind a mother with a SNAP card she is typically obese loading several kinds of chips packaged cookies and cupcakes sugar drinks and frozen pizzas
Never see a bag of apples or fresh vegetables
School lunches and snacks are no better

I saw that the last time I was in WM. Saw the basket loaded with nothing but fats, sugars and colorful dyes to make it appealing. It was nothing but a cart of how do I get diabetes or have a heart attack before age 30.

Some states have a lot more of that demographic than others.

Govt food programs have been heavily influenced by lobbyists for segments of the farm and food processing industries.

WIC, however, seems like a good program where they can only buy healthy dairy and egg stuff (maybe some meats?).

Then there's government cheese.

Dairy’s big enemy are the PETA types. Some folks are offended that other folks eat animals or products from animal milk.

Also Waco used politics to assault upstream dairy producers in the Stephenville area.

The World is wanting our milk whey protein.

I wouldn’t mind if they limited SNAP to non-junk food. If you take the govt $, then it is the govt’s business what kind of food you spend it on. Give them a small junk food allowance, but the vast majority of food the govt pays for needs to be healthy.

Speaking of farms, Cal’s Central Valley and Miss’ “Delta” (Northeast quarter of Miss and Eastern 1/3 of Arkansas) is among the best farmland in the World. Ask an aggie.

Cal uses it mostly for fruits, vegetables, nuts, and wine grapes.

Miss uses it mostly for rice, cotton, and soybeans.

Reminds me of the time I got in trouble with my eldest child’s first grade teacher for something I said to my daughter that she repeated in class:

“California is a magical land full of fruits, nuts, rainbows, and fairies.”

How about Gatorade?

An athlete’s drink?

Loaded with sugar and unnatural color dyes?
I volunteered for a Pro golf tourney here. My job was to keep the ice containers at each tee box stocked with ice water and gatorade. We started out with lots of water and equal qties of regular gator ade and sugar free gator ade.
By second run it was clear no golfer was taking the sugar laden gator ade Only water and sugar free gator ade
. So we dumped all the sugar laden ade in the press building refrigerators. They were like vultures and would take anything offered

Not a political nor racial statement, just personal observation. The church which I am a member of has a Faith Center with three locations around West Houston. Last year, the Center fed and clothed over 45,000 people. The clothing part is set up like a department store, and volunteers help the family find things. Example, the leader of a Young Life Group had a banquet fundraiser and called me two days before to say 14 boys did not have a white dress shirt to wear. I ran to the Center closest to me, told my friend, she took me into the "Department Store" to the men's shirts, and said, "take your pick". Five minutes later I was on my way to the high school with 15 clean, starched white dress shirts.

The food pantry in set up like a grocery store. (I think I was told it provided over four million pounds of food to needy families last year.) The Hispanic mothers load up grocery carts (saw one older lady with THREE) primarily with fruits and vegetables and meat. Lots of fruit drinks.

What has been described above as "fat women" come from another culture and will load up on junk when it's available.

Saddest part was seeing an elderly Hispanic woman with 4-5 young children and THREE grocery carts to push home with the kids. I really wanted to put them in the truck and drive them, but liability insurance prevents it (not mine), but she didn't want it - really not trusting Anglos yet.

From what I've seen, the recent immigrant working men from Central America or South Mexico seem to prefer fruit as their food of choice. Of course, if I'm hot or dehydrated, I'd also take the melons over the tacos and burgers every time.

Mass looting reported in LA.

"At least 20 people have been arrested on suspicion of looting during the wildfires raging in Los Angeles County, according to officials."

OK, you guys were right, Mississippi's better than California.

Bad time for a joke...?

So, if the looter loots less than $750 worth of stuff in L.A., is it just a misdemeanor?

Chop it is worse than that. At least one instance of citizens capturing a person with a blowtorch in his hand setting garbage cans on fire. Cops cam and arrested the gut. The DA order his release.

The cop performing the release should release blow torch guy on the block where that DA lives.

Don't worry 100s of thousands of displaced burned-out L.A. people. Rest well knowing that your state isn't as poor, unhealthy, or uneducated as Mississippi.

:tap::tap::tap::tap::tap:

(but you do have the stupidest f@cking politicians on this planet)

Why release him in that block? Cuff him either to the door at the house, the fence gate, or the bumper of the DA's car.
