I submit for worst movie ever made.

The 5th Element is the worst movie ever made that should have won an oscar. Tim "Tiny" Lester's performance as "The President" was truly phenomenal. Bravo.

Whoa -- need to check threads more often.

I still stand by Johhny Mnemonic. It's the ******* worst thing ever put on film.

I always thought Plan 9 from Outer Space was generally considered the worst movie ever made. Has anybody ever tried to sit through that thing? It isn't even like watching a movie. It's like watching a movie made by someone who has never seen a movie before. I can't even describe how incoherent it is and how many unbelievable production errors there are in it. I mean, Bela Lugosi died in the middle of the production and they replaced him halfway through the film with someone who didn't even look like him and held a cape over his face to hide this fact.

All of the movies listed here are no doubt terrible, but at least they have some value as a storytelling device, even if the story is a steaming pile of dogshit. You can't say that about Plan 9. It is the worst movie ever made.

I don't even know how it's up for debate. Maybe if Keanu died in the middle of Johnny Mnemonic and they used a stand-in who weighed half as much as he did with more hair holding a cape over his face, you might have an argument here. But I'm going with Plan 9.

I, as usual, submit Eye of The Beholder (ashley judd in panties was the ONLY watchable part of that horrible movie). I would like to also include The Klumps, NUtty Professor II. Not funny. At all.

the 5h element reminds me of spaceballs for some reason.

nah, something to do with the believability of the character's appearances.

i'm not a huge sci-fi guy though

It's not one of my favorites by any stretch, but there are a hell of a lot of films that are worse than The 5th Element. Fortunately I have managed to avoid many of them.

Let me be more specific about my nomination of "Heaven's Gate." Not only was the movie unwatchable, it destroyed Michael Cimino's directing career, and forced United Artist's parent company to sell the studio becuase of the movie's staggering losses. Now that's bad....

puddle.....I'm a big fan of "Thin Red Line" in many ways, but the heavy handed method used by the director to make his philosophic points worked against his ability to reach a wider audience....thus a HUGE punchbowl turd and listing frequently on this thread.

As I opined, its arguably the best cinematography display of all time and an equal or superior to any war movie if you jettison the Plato-Sarte-Hume, et. al. garbageola.(everyone already knows war is hell)
