'I Feel Duped on Climate Change'

In response to the WaPo article panicking about rising methane emissions:

“If the United States eliminated all of its methane emissions by 2050, the effect on global temperature in 2100 would be a mere 0.03 degrees Celsius, far less than the error range in our measurements of global temperature,” says TPPF’s Jason Isaac. “In other words, the environmental benefits of eliminating U.S. methane emissions entirely can barely be measured, much less quantified as accurately as the severe costs of achieving those emission reductions.”

When you actually do the math, you can see that the climate change alarmist claims are ridiculous.

Scientists challenge 'alarm bells' in IPCC climate change report: 'Not the end of the world'

"The IPCC is an excellent source for climate science, but we tend to focus very selectively on the worst news, often overstating the effects of climate change on extreme weather events. Often adaptation is ignored, although it can alleviate much or sometimes almost all of climate damages," Bjorn Lomborg, president of the Copenhagen Consensus and visiting fellow at Stanford University's Hoover institution, said in an emailed statement to Fox News on Wednesday.

"Although climate change in total has negative impacts, we rarely hear about the positive impacts, such as a profound global greening of the planet, equivalent to two more continents of green, each the size of Australia."

Lomborg wrote in a New York Post article on Monday urging readings not to buy alarmism and "scare stories on climate impacts," and that the U.N. has "a long history of claiming catastrophe is right around the corner," writing about problems related to "one-sided" and negative thinking on climate change. Lomborg said that while climate change is a "real problem that we should fix smartly," it won’t be as catastrophic as some present it to be and that humans’ adaptive capacities are not properly being taken into account."

You can also see that the countries that self-flagellate the most about it (the West) aren't the primary drivers of greenhouse gas emissions. The US is big but still only about 15 percent. They could completely shutdown, and it wouldn't make a lot of difference. Instead of lecturing us and Western Europe, Greta Thunberg should be bitching out China and the "developing world."

And like I've said before, if you aren't pitching nuclear energy, you don't really care about climate change.

Maybe I'm a simpleton, but the nation with the biggest projected guilt on the planet is the United States. The global environmentalists smell the blood of our economy.

Attacking China or the developing world would be seen as racist and futile. So they come after us.

Why is going after the US not racist? Because they all assume it's the white guys who have the money.

If someone said that the US goal is to be 10% or less global CO2 emissions and we are going to reach that through nuclear energy, natural gas, and electric cars, I would be for it. But no one who pushes global warming hysteria is sane enough to put forward a sane plan.

This is the tell that it’s not about sanity but extracting as much $$$ as possible and wield as much power as possible. Seriously who makes money under my plan? Oil&gas industry, nuclear energy and Detroit - the three most hated industries except banking.

Yep. You can often tell where someone's values lie by their willingness - or lack thereof - to pay the piper to achieve the goals they claim are necessarily.

Nuclear power isn't perfect and has drawbacks? Sure, everybody agrees on that. If you think those drawbacks are bigger than the advantages gained by drastically reducing air pollution from coal plants, I'm willing to just say that's fine and intelligent people can disagree on that - but don't simultaneously tell me that said pollution is threating to exterminate humanity.

And according to the hardcore (AOC and global activists), we've only got about 12 years to fix the problem. To them, we're literally in our final years. The people who claim to believe that are insane not to be the biggest advocates of nuclear energy alive. If we've only got 12 years, how can one not take his or her chances on nuclear? Even with the occasional Fukushima or even Chernobyl, it's a cakewalk compared to extinction in 12 years.

Sad time for me. The coal power TVA plant that my dad worked at for over 40 years and for my entire childhood was closed and imploded two weeks ago. The original smoke stacks were replaced in about 1982ish with the one giant stack you see falling in the video. It had smoke scrubbers on it that eliminated 99.9% of all pollution for the past 35+ years. All of the employees lost their jobs or were asked to relocate. This is killing my hometown because if you don't work at TVA then you worked at the DuPont plant about a mile away.

There was no reason to close this plant other than for liberal political gain. The article states that it is being cleared for a cleaner energy plant, but no one I know has heard any specific plans to rebuild.

TVA implosion at New Johnsonville plant

Edit: The article states it stopped producing electricity in 2017, but everything halted then as a result of an EPA agreement under Obam in 2016. He promised he'd shut down all the coal plants yet all those union guys voted themselves out of a job anyway. Idiots.

Here’s an article that must have been written by an OU graduate:

“There's little doubt, at least in Yawger's mind, that climate change is to blame for the simultaneous impact to various crops.”

Extreme weather caused by global warming is causing cold snaps in Texas and Brazil that has impacted crop prices. Note they don’t show crop yields for sugar, coffee, cacao, wheat, etc over the last 3 decades (likely an overall increase of 50% or more). So, global warming causes cold weather now?

Wow. I drive by that plant a couple of times a year as my wife is from Clarksville. Sorry to hear about this.

But at least you all are saving the world by closing the plant. The workers may be out of work, but don't they feel so much more righteous now?

Tropical Depression Grace heads towards the Gulf | KVEO-TV

This past week the 2021 Atlantic Hurricane Season has awoke from its month long slumber with Fred, Grace, and another tropical wave near Bermuda.

It's fun to see an honest report every now and then. Of course, whoever wrote this article didn't get the memo from the Climate Change Industrial Complex to characterize this summer as evidence of Climate Change.

I'll up the ante on all of you. I pledge no private jets for the rest of my life. :hookem:

That is some serious righteousness. You're getting into Pope territory. Oh wait, he uses a private jet. That means you're even more righteous than the Pope. Lots of points with the man upstairs.

What Are You Willing to Sacrifice to Stop Climate Change?

You don’t have to sacrifice anything if you build nuclear power plants and burn more gas.

Love this quote. "Voters want action on climate, but not action of the sort that would cause anything they buy to become more expensive."

What does this mean? It means that voters say they care about climate change, because they feel like they have to say that. However, they don't actually care about it enough to do anything meaningful. That means they don't really think it's a big deal.

Voters don’t want action on global warming that affects their pocket book. The alarmists in politics know this, which is why they petition congress for subsidies and other grift that the public doesn’t understand.

Further the media coverage on global warming is to convince the politicians that it is real, not the general public. All they need to do is convince 500-1000 folks to enact their grift-laden policy.

Wait, people who cry about climate change don't want to pay more? Is that like people who complain things are made in Taiwan and China but don't want to pay what it would cost here to manufacture because of wages constantly being driven up by unions?

Stop the presses!!!

I'm not sure that's true. If they tried to pull what they do in Europe (especially in Germany), I think people would genuinely freak out. There'd be major political implications of tripling electricity rates and $7 per gallon gas.
