Horns vs. KU

Well, we won 6-2. I didn’t see much of it, but only giving up 2 runs on the road is a good result.

:ut::ut::ut:

Thomas gets a lead off double, apparently he has 4 hits today. Can't speak highly enough of this kid, he is already a heck of a player. Powell flied out to LF and Campbell struck out. GG drew a walk and now Porter Brown is up with 2 on 2 out.
Thomas has developed into a real threat at the plate.

Putting Duplantier in with the bases loaded makes me wonder if there was any suspicious betting activity connected with this game (I kid, I kid) :smile1:

Nice bounce back win. Tomorrow is huge with last seven then at home the Horns need to get a win streak going as they head toward post season.

I would probably run Witt out there again and see what he can do. We know he has the ability and we need him back to his old self for the playoffs if that’s possible at this late stage. Then maybe tole.

Tomorrow is huge and a must win. Who do we pitch

I think Witt is good for approximately 45 pitches tomorrow. At least that was the plan last week on him slowly getting up to speed. By the time we hit the Big XII tournament, he should be able to go around 90 pitches and then completely free by playoff time.

Tomorrow we should see:
Witt
Tole
Burke
Lummus

Might see:
Shaw (very limited action so far but some of it was his own fault)
Hurley (he pitched two innings Friday)

GG gets the job done by putting the ball in play to SS, he's thrown out but drives in Thomas and Porter Brown hits the first pitch he sees, its a sharp grounder down the 1st base line but the KU 1st baseman makes the play, 1-0 UT after top of 1st.

Witt sets up on the very left edge of the rubber, throws a couple of pitches to the first batter and its lined straight to 2nd for the first out. 1 out

And he walks the next batter but the last pitch could have been called either way on a 3-1 count. 1 on, 1 out

Someone must have said something to Galvan, not seeing him get down on one knee like i've seen him do so many times. Witt walks the next batter as well after getting him down 0-2. 2 on 1 out.

Double steal and had Galvan kept the ball down, he would have got him but he throws it high and we have runners on 2nd and 3rd with one out. full count on the current batter

and he induces a ground ball to end the inning. Witt looks good, he nibbled on some and it cost him three walks, he only had a few pitches that were clearly outside the zone.

If I'm comparing Witt to LBJ, he's ahead of where LBJ was at the beginning of the season. he has more command of his off speed pitches today than he did the fast ball.

EK lead off the inning with another pop up in foul territory. 1 out.

Galvan strikes out on a pitch that the umpire is now inconsistent at, he called that a ball on one of Witt's pitch that drew a walk.
