and what i like about Ace is he attacks the strike zone, strikes out the first batter he faces.
 
Next hitter gets a base knock, 1 on 1 out. 3rd hitter hits to Daly and Daly takes it himself and steps on 2nd, not sure why we couldn't get a double play there, O'Dowd gave up on getting to second?? not sure but 2 outs and the last hitter hits a frozen rope to LF to Brown. onto the top of the 9th. Ace did a great job.
 
Thomas gets a lead off double, apparently he has 4 hits today. Can't speak highly enough of this kid, he is already a heck of a player. Powell flied out to LF and Campbell struck out. GG drew a walk and now Porter Brown is up with 2 on 2 out.
 
Porter Brown hits it up just slightly left of 2nd base and the SS is there to step on 2nd for the 3rd out.
 
Ace Whitehead back on the mound to close it out. Starts off getting the lead off batter down 0-2, love that, he may not be a top pitcher on our staff but all of them could learn a thing or two from him.....Attack the zone.

lead off hits a nice liner into CF, hats off to the hitter, he went down and got that one. one on no outs.
 
and just like the 1st batter, he gets him down 0-2, he then fouls off 4 straight pitches and then lines a ball to LF. May end up pulling Ace, cant afford to let this get out of hand. Ace has done fine but he's usually only good for 1 inning. coach visited but ultimately decided to leave him in, and while I'm typing this, he already has the next batter down 0-2 again.
 
bases loaded, single up the middle but they hold up the runner rounding 3rd, EK might have been able to throw him out at the plate. Whitehead is getting replaced. Duplantier to the mound.
 
Now is when it gets a little shaky, which Duplantier are we getting? Just throw strikes kid.
 
and of course its exactly opposite, he starts off 3-0 with his very first batter with bases loaded.....:brickwall:
he is able to work it back to a full count 3-2, the hitter fouls off a thousand pitches and then singles to CF. score 6-2 UT bases loaded still with only 1 out.

All we need Duplantier is a ground ball double play
 
Geez, Duplantier works the count to a 3-2 again.......throws a strike, hitter strikes out looking and could have been called either way, GG even dropped the ball but its a strike none the less. 2 outs
 
Ballgame.....Duplantier strikes out the next hitter quickly......UT wins it 6-2. Not liking the way our relievers come in and work from behind, that has to get fixed.
 
The pitch before the strike is a strike on out 2.

Then first pitch strike on the next batter is our first call of the day to go our way.

gotta win tomorrow.

so glad we now have 2 top notch starters but the pen is STILL an issue.
