Hells Kitchen anyone??

Bobby gets called out by Ramsay even less than Petrozza. It's pretty common to never see Ramsay say anything to him during a service. That's why he's going to make it to the final 2.

This competition isn't Top Chef. There isn't a field of 16 trained fine dining professionals duking it out for first place. Making it to the finale ISN'T about rising to the top, it is about not sinking to the bottom... and most of the contestants are happy as hell to tie a weight around you. The last thing you want to be on this show is "the leader". Bobby is efficient, experienced and utterly unflappable. The fact you don't see him is his greatest success. He is either sandbagging until the finales, or he knows what he does well and doesn't stray from it... but either way, he just doesn't seem to put himself into the crossfire. That the few times Bobby has put himself in harm's way he has quietly steped in and done a great job makes me think he is sandbagging. All of the girls have had meltdowns, Petrozza melted down early (on the menu of all things) but Bobby just keeps on doing his thing.

Kudos to Jen on the challange, I didn't think she had it in her... particularly when I saw what she plated. I like the fact that all 6 plated good food, even if not everyone knocked it out of the park.

Corey was due a breakdown... but doing that this late in the game is a problem. At best it gives people like Jen a second wind, but at worst it gets you kicked out.

Christina should get a pass for this episode, because of Grimace. She didn't do well, but I'm not sure what she could have done. I think Ramsay's speech to her at the end was telling. Yes, he was trying to light a fire under her ***, but I believe he was also sincere. Christina's bar for success is going to be higher than everyone else's because her experience is lower. She is going to have to get seperation to win.

IMHO None of the contestants stand out like years past. If I were Ramsay, I wouldn't give the restaurant to any of them! I would give Christina a shot in culinary school like he did that chic last year, but the rest don't do anything for me. I know it won't end up like that, so on that note, I think it will end up being Bobby and Petrozza in the finale. I would hope Petrozza would win. He seems to be the most sincere and genuine in the bunch, at least to me. Jen is just a straight out ***** with attitude! Cory screwed herself at the dinner service last night. Christina messed up, but if I were Ramsay, send her back to the culinary academy, which leaves Bobby and Petrozza. Bobby is cocky, and he has been from day 1. Fool couldn't even cook duck! He's gonna get his yelling next week also, at least from the previews it showed like he would. So who knows?!

I've only seen a few episodes and I also missed last week but I find it pretty entertaining. I do like Bobby; there never seems to be that drama around him. So glad Matt is gone, but that last episode was funny.

I don't think that this show would work if the chefs were any better. Every service would be flawless (how hard is risotto and beef wellington?) and Ramsay would have no one to yell at. That's why we all watch anyhow, to see a great chef like Ramsay babysit a bunch of short order cooks.

question for restaurant types. Whats a higher position, head chef or executive chef? From last season, Rock is supposed to be the top guy at a restaurant in Vegas but their web site shows someone as as the executive chef.

VERY interesting catch there! I thought they won "Executive Chef" NOT "Head Chef". As far as this season is concerned too, I agree with you mia, the contestants are only good as being a Sous Chef in the new restaurant, not an Executive Chef, but isn't Bobby already an Executive Chef? Didn't know about the duck... never had it, and didn't know how it was to cook it. My bad! Just glad we don't have to go another week with Matt! I couldn't tolerate him again!

Duck is good... I recommend it, but it needs to be cooked right. Duck confit, is the already fatty meat of the duck cooked in rendered fat (usually, but not always duck fat)... it will kill you dead, but there are few items as delicious.

The protiens provided represented a very large range of things each of which required different preparations to best utilize them. It was an interesting challenge from a cooking perspective and that really wasn't conveyed very well by the production team. It is obvious that from the perspective of the production team the food is an obstacle to be overcome, the details of the dishes are a side-note easily forgotten. It isn't a cooking show, but rather a reality show which takes place in a kitchen. So be it, it has its place.

I read something about the soft opening of Ramsay's LA restaurant. The writer said he was told by people who would know that the Hell's Kitchen winner is going to be a sous chef there and not the executive chef. That makes more sense.

ha...its very true that his BBC shows are much more mellow and better than his US shows. He is actually quite funny.

F-word is the better of the two BBC shows INMO...

The Hells Kitchen editing team is greatness; they always put some cocky, arrogant clip on then, bam something bad happens to the douche that says it…its like foreshadowing in your favorite novel

haha

NativeTXchic, I don't think that their titles have much to do with their actual jobs. As noted before I believe at this point Bobby is the purchaser for a fancy grocery store. Regardless, dishwasher for Ramsay is better than Exec Chef at others.

I am going to go out on a limb and say in a surprise move Christina. Everyone will hope it is Jen (me included), but it will be someone else.

Just for the sake of shaking things up, I'll say Petrozza goes home. He's too dirty to work in a Ramsay restaurant, added to the fact he's to ugly to win a reality show.

FINALLY!! BOBBY WAS ELIMINATED TONIGHT..

I STILL STAND BY MY TOP 3 CHOICES..PETROZZA, CHRISTINA, AND COREY...

IF JEN MAKES IT TO THE TOP, THE PRODUCERS RIGGED THE SHOW...LMAO

I don't know how Jen gets kicked off her station and remains on the show.

I'm not saying Bobby didn't earn his ticket, he did... I'm just saying when you get told to get the hell out of the way and then taken into the back and shut down you don't then somehow get to stick around.

Also, please note Ramsey said they were competing for "Executive Chef at one of my restaurants".

Jen's being kept around for tv. That's got to be the only reason. There's no way she's ever going to work for Ramsay. She's got a ****** attitude, refuses to accept responsibility for mistakes and doesn't work well with others.

I say it's gonna boil down to Christina and Corey... at least that's what I'm hoping for. The two 25-yr-olds duel to the end. Petrozza is too dirty to be the winner, and Jen should've been kicked off, but I'm glad Bobby got the boot. Jen's attitude SUCKS!!! I'm curious as to who is the one next week that keeps bringing up the pots/pans with the heated handle. I'm hoping it's Jen. That ***** needs to GO!! Can't stand her!!

I agree completely.

Petrozza is too dirty to be the head man at a Ramsay restaurant.

Jen's inability to take criticism and her penchant for disappearing can't be overcome.

If it is between Christina and Corey... I have to think that means Corey wins.

That is, unless they are just keep Corey around so she'll keep flashing the camera. Her boob display this episode is just more of the same.

Do you ever get the feeling the winner is decided before the competition starts?

It seems that the meat station is the one you don't want to be on if you want to stick around. The contestants are constantly getting the meats wrong and the ones we see are WAY wrong. Since the menu each service is pretty much the same, you'd think they'd start to get the hang of it.

The fish station too!! It was hilarious seeing Jean Paul telling the waiters to push the meat, then once Bobby was screwing up to push the chicken, then so forth. Seems like Jen hasn't been able to cook fish at all since she's been there. What's the jandouri(wrong spelling probably)?? And also the langistin(spelling?)??

Langoustine is also very difficult to deal with. They spoil almost immediately upon their death. they must be cooked properly and promptly.
